CLEP for Canadians

Then who is eligible to take DANTES examinations?

 

Anyone, assuming you can find a college that offers them. I will have to drive for over 3 hours to the closest college in my area offering them. Compared with 5 min, 40 min, and 40 min for the 3 closest offering CLEP tests.

Even foreign students can take them?

 

Yes! Show ID (so they know it's you) and pay money - it's that simple. It might be that DSST/DANTES only does the auto-forwarding of your scores to US schools, but you can always have the transcript sent the same as CLEP if you want them sent out of the US.

I spoke to them over the phone like a month ago. You can call them up and get the information you need.

 

I just received an email from the "College Board Call Center" and they said:

"Unfortunately, we do not have CLEP centers in Ontario. We have one in Langley and one in Vancouver."

Maybe taking Athabasca University "Challenge for Credit" assignments would be easier for Canadian folk.

The cost is reasonable at $160.00 CDN for a 3 and 4-credit course. If I am not mistaken the student does not have to travel to undertake this challenge.

 

No travelling is required. The exams can be taken at all of the usual places (ie: community college, university) that a person would normally undertake an exam. If the person is more than 100km from an exam centre, special arrangements can be made for local invigilation.
