I was searching the other day for some school related topics on the web, and ran into businesses which advertised schools (or colleges) which were for sale. Needless to say I veered in that direction to see what type of schools were for sale.

All types as it turns out. Mostly technology related (MIcrosoft courses, truck driving, etc), dance, child care, etc. Some prominently mentioned their state, regional and national accreditation status. Others were small, aparently 1 person shops. And yet, others were regionally accredited, nationally accredited academic types.

So I clicked on one and it mentioned it was CITA accredited. Now, I know it is not a regional, and it is composed of a few of the regional accreditors that got together to form CITA, but, it claims to accredit schools. It is not recognized by the US Dept of Ed, so is it a true accreditor or not?

    follow up

I did take a look at the CITA website, and CITA claims to be able to accredit schools. The website itself

    http://www.citaschools.org/

appears to be run by the North Central Association. It shows standards for schools to meet, expenses, etc like the regional accreditors. However, it is not a regional accreditor.
