Being a parent myself, I can completely understand how Cindy Sheehan was consumed by grief. I truly feel for her.

However, her recent actions and statements have told me that she is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of moveon.org, Michael Moore, and the rest of the ultra-left. IMO, this traveling circus now has nothing to do with Casey Sheehan, it's now all about Cindy Sheehan, and trying to embarass President Bush.

    When I was first deployed to Saudi Arabia at the beginning of the first Gulf War in 1990, back when predictions of Iraq's use of WMD's and 10,000+ US casualties were rampant, I wrote my father a letter. I forget the exact wording (he may still have the letter), but I wrote something like;

"If I do fall on the field of battle, don't you ever tell anyone that I 'died for oil', or that I 'died for nothing'. If I am killed, then I died in service to my country, and that's exactly how I want to be remembered".

That's usually the case when someone is arrested. :D

Can't people be arrested on suspicion without having broken any law or am I wrong.

I am not being contrary, I ask this is all seriousness.

    The Patriot Act

    Jimmy,

Yes, you can be arrested now under the Patriot Act and suspicions of terrorism. The government has no criteria that restricts who can be called a terrorist.

Your grandma could be a terrorist by belonging to a knit group.

All arrests are for suspicion as you are not guilty until convicted in a court of law.

I know there are various very low level misdemeanors in DC that deal with blocking a public walkway. I suspect that she was arrested for something like this. If convicted, most likely a minor fine.

Of course Cindy had herself arrested. That was her choice - whatever.

As far as being a puppet for the left - I doubt it. She is the spokeperson for her organization. As an American, she has the right to do just what she is doing -- just like Cheney has the right to spread his rhetoric. She is no more a puppet to the left than GW & Co. is a puppet for the right. It is also not really an issue whether her family agrees with her or not. I don't know about you, but if I think something is right I could care less what my family thinks about it. They either accept it as I accept them for whatever they are, or they really don't love me anyway.

Do I agree with Cindy? I can't say. I have never been in her shoes - perhaps my feelings would be different if it were my son or daughter.

    Cheney Rhetoric

Cheney spreads rhetoric? What gave you that idea?

    Halliburton is completely legitimate right?

A number of far left organizations were at the rally with Ms. Sheehan including the Workers' World Party. This Party supports that madman in North Korea, Fidel Castro, and opposes private property ownership.

So - you are equating what Cindy Sheehan is doing with the Worker's World Party? Come on- you can do better than that silly

    :D

I bet you that you can name some off the wall right wing organizations (can you say Heritage Foundation or anything associated with CBN or Falwell) which support GW. Do you really think that GW supports them?

    Re: Re: Cheney Rhetoric

Despite $50 million in investigation costs, the puppet of the far right was unable to prove any wrong doing by Clinton or his wife. (the only thing he did prove was Clinton lied about getting a BJ from an adult intern) Of course, GW's brother was convicted of bank fraud and was directly involved in the S&L problems of the 80's

I never mentioned Halliburton although they have had questionable contracts in both Iraq and for both Hurricanes. If the Demo's were in power, you bet there would be an investigation instead of a whitewash by the Republican majority.

And nothing has ever been proven regarding any illegal activities by Hallliburton. However, I don't approve of them having the no bid contracts in Iraq.

But, my friend, George Bush doesn't associate with these extremists like Ms. Sheehan associates with the far left extremists.

An example would be the Communist Party's endorsement of Hubert Humphrey in 1968. HHH was a staunch anti-communist and repudiated the Party and their endorsement. Ms. Sheehan has not repudiated the far left nor their endorsement of her.

A number of former supporters of Ms. Sheehan are now repudiating her, saying she is a disgrace to the anti-war movement and is on a personal ego trip.

It's no longer about Iraq. It's about Cindy Sheehan.

    Lost Credibility

I will agree with one thing.

Bush has lost credibility with the American people.

I can only speak for my jurisdiction.....a person can be arrested, at the officer's discretion, when there is probable cause they have committed an arrestable offense.

Now, with almost 18 years on the job, I can say with utmost confidence that I have never arrested an innocent person. A few have been found not guilty, but they actually did commit the crime.

Did you see the pictures of her being carted off by the police? She had a million-megawatt smile plastered on her face. She was thoroughly enjoying the entire spectacle.

As Jimmy mentioned, this "Peace Mom" thing has stopped being about anything else, other than publicity for Cindy Sheehan.

I tend to agree with both of your points. However, that is her right.

I don't recall saying that Halliburton was shown to have done anything illegal. Perhaps a bit unethical, but nothing that I can see that was blantently illegal.

Bruce: that is the same in CA. However, an arrest is not the same as guilt.

Every cop I have ever known has said the identical thing about never having arrested an innocent person (nor given a bad ticket) - lol. Of course, I have never, ever driven faster than the posted speed limit.
