Any advice on obtaining this certificate through distance education?

    Perhaps...

We had some threads on here recently about RN degrees but not specifically CNA programs. The research that I did showed that some states don't allow online CNA training, so be sure to check with the relevant state(s) licensing board(s) before you start. Excelsior College (which is one of the Big Three in distance learning) has a program. Kaplan is another you could try.

You will most likely need to arrange for in-person skills training/testing or clinical/intership hours.

Where do you want to work? If you're going to work in a nursing home or assisted living facility, check with some in your local area - they might have classes and some are even free if you agree to work for them later.

This is the local training center I was looking into because it was a 4 week program. I have a private job waiting when I have the certificate in hand. Because it is a private individual with $ I can make more doing this than subbing in the school system.

The drawback is the $1200 fee.

Is it possible to study and test out and receive the certificate? I am in VA. Where do I go to find out this info ....maybe board of nursing??
