    Hello Everybody

I am looking to study certified course to go in-depth in a particular domain and also to get certified to get recognition.

My area of interest are Cloud Computing, Linux Administration and Linux Virtualization.

My company would reimburse the education fees if anything.

I was actually looking to do course on Amazon AWS.
But i being a disabled person is apprehensive about the facilities being provided by Kryterion India for people who is having difficulties in writing.

So, i have short-listed following online options for me.

    1) https://www.udacity.com/
    2) https://www.edx.org/
    3) https://www.coursera.org

Coursera appears to be the only one who offers certification from a reputable educational institute as of my knowledge.
I am seeing, "Certificate registration period is closed" for Cloud Computing Concepts course.

Please offer your valuable suggestions to me.

I couldn't find, on the Coursera site, where the institutions that create the certificate courses actually issue the certificates. On some of them, it says the creator is the Univ of Illinois. Does UofI actually issue the certificate, or does Coursera do that?

Coursera issues a co-branded certificate. So it contains logos for both Coursera and the school.

So it isn't technically accurate to say you have a Certificate in X from the University of Wherever. But, it's really no more inaccurate then when these schools outsource course creation to a for-profit company and simply award certificates for it (as is the case with Villanova's non-credit certificates and many, many others).

In speaking with employees who have completed Coursera courses that they wish to include in performance appraisals and social media, most of them write:

"Intro to Underwater Basket Weaving - University of Miami via Coursera"

Which pretty accurately captures the situation. Coursera is a platform. Their system generates your certificate and slaps their name all over it. But Coursera doesn't provide instruction, just the platform upon which university faculty can provide their course materials.

That said, whether the school or Coursera is actually "creating" the certificate, the school consents to their name appearing on it. These are non-credit certificates. They don't confer alumni status and the registrar doesn't keep a record of course completions in the same way as for-credit programs. So if a job applicant came in with a Certificate in Data Science from Hopkins I wouldn't really hold it against him/her if it was delivered through Coursera and they simply omitted that fact.

My point would be that a certificate from the University of Illinois carries more weight than a certificate from Coursera...which most have never heard about. Whereas you and I might not hold it against someone have a Coursera cert, no one else in my HR department would have a clue what it is. That I can guarantee. And I work in a Fortune 500.
