    Florida Institute of Technology.

I took there other classes as well that had no specific trend.
My employer paid for many of my certifications and the classes with FIT, they had some special agreement with FIT being the headquarters in Florida and IT campus and the lab in Boca R.

Wile not MIT this is a fine school.

I also wile in military took Electronics Engineering - Diploma from UK ICS in the 80's. Then became MIET - member of Institute of Engineers and Technicians with registration in UK EC and progressed to CEng.

My Institution of Engineers and Technicians became in 90's IIE in UK.

The Diploma from ICS and Certificate from FIT.

OK, I understand how someone would look at a certificate without a degree as a shortcut, but what about a BA with a graduate certificate? I have a BA in Communications from 92 and just got a Grad Certificate from UMass Lowell in Foundations of Business. I will be choosing a different MBA program and just took the cert to cover any prerequisite learning that would be required. But in the meantime, as I search for work, will I be seen as having taken a shortcut or does this business grad certificate complement my BA well enough that I won't be totally laughed at?

I would see it as the second, no its not a short cut.
You aquired new education on graduate level, be proud of it.
You have now above undergraduate credential.
MBA may be in the future but this is nice and valuble enhancement to your education.
How many units of Graduate work?

Most likely close to 40% or 50% of basic MBA.

I personally view Graduate Certificates as additional credential above undergraduate degree and I think HR and employers do the same.

One thing that I always liked about the EBS of the HWU is that upon completion of some classes leading to MBA the student is recognized by Certificate - Graduate level Certificate, then with complition of additional work additional Diploma follows so this is alway rewards new aquired education, provides valuble credential that can be put to work for career enhancement .

Computer Programming Certificate that sounds really neat and with an optional course on Java.

These certificate courses are also pre-requisites for the Master's in Computer Science too, so if you are changing careers, this seems like a nice credential to get rather than just filling pre-requisites, at least it would seem to feel better.
