I am currently enrolled at Tiffin University for my Associates in Information Technology I have 8 courses left and fully intend to finish up my associates but as the years go by I have started to doubt my career choice, my hearts just not in it anymore. I have suffered from anxiety but instead of taking dr prescribed medication (my choice everyone is welcome to their own decisions) but I have used vitamins and herbs to help the anxiety and so far it has worked (I have had it for 4 years now) I can't say that if I stopped my "meds" if it would come back or not all I know is that they worked. Anyway I'm interested in alternative medicine/homeopathic medicine. I don't want to prescribe medicine or anything I don't want to be a herbalist but I would like to have my own practice were I helped people who did not want to go the medical route but wanted to try herbs/vitamins/natural remedies first of course if it was something truly serious I would tell them to go to a physician rather than put them in any danger. I looked online and found Everglades university has a Bachelors in Alternative Medicine but truly I'm not sure what this career would require any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to add that I checked around were I live and there aren't any university's around me that offer anything like this but I'll keep checking.

Be careful. Everglades is not accreditted by any of the major accrediting bodies (I never heard of ACCSCT. Is it recognized by CHEA?) If you earned one of those degrees, what would it enable you to do? Would an employer accept such a degree? You need to check that out and do it very carefully because, as you know, there's a lot of time and a lot of money involved. Beyond all that, take a look at Bastyr University

    http://www.bastyr.edu/

It's a regionally accredited university and so you can do a whole compare/contrast thing with the two programs. Good luck.

Take a look at a few of these books about careers in holistic health care and alternative medicine. This is a good place to start.

OK, so that's a good thing but I'm still not clear about what sort of career avenues are available as a result of earning one of these degrees.

Yes, that is the university, and thank you all so much for the replies, i'm purchasing the books from amazon right now. I guess its a good thing that I have to finish up my IT degree first before I look into Alternative Medicine it gives me lots of time to read and decide what is best for me.

I think i'm most interested in drugless and holistic medicine, but your right Kizmet I need to see what avenues are available with a degree in this, I more than likely will have to continue to get my Masters.
