It seems that Capitol University has a new home.

They are not longer British Virgin Islands based - they are now operating out of Dominica.

Did the administration, faculty and staff of Capital stay in the BVI long enough to even get a sun tan?

I loved this line under “About us” at www.capitoluniversity.com/ .

“The British Commonwealth, to which our jurisdiction belongs, is hardly poisoned by the existence of illegal diploma factories that are common practice in the United States and certain Asian countries.”

Apparently, Capitol is doing its level best to change that... [IMG]

Capitol has been a source of entertainment since its creation early last year. The list of hilarious things Kristiaan has done on Capitol's pages is lengthy. My favorite: exhibiting a photograph of world famous UC Berkeley mathematician Kenneth Ribet on Capitol's front page. Dr. Ribet, however, was not amused.

Many notorious diploma mills have operated from Britain. They would evade British law by not selling their services in the U.K.

Kristiaan De Ley, a nome de plume used by a multi-identity poster here and on a.e.d. Connected to Capitol and Earlscroft. (A search of the threads turns up a few that discuss him.)

Kristiaan De Ley, the renowned "global degree consultant". http://www.wsmcafe.com/temp/12281527594/index.html

Kris has a U.K. Trinity C&U MBA and Ph.D. He was, for quite a while, a not infrequent contributor on AED under a handful of aliases, shilling Capitol U. and Concordia C&U.

  12. They can finish their tans in Dominica. A beautiful island with exceptionally friendly people, if you ignore the sandal-wearing ecotourists.

I don't think any two points on the island are more than a one-hour drive apart, so the faculty and administration will have no trouble rushing back and forth between their campus and the research facilities of the island's senior university, which is.. oh, wait. I forgot. There IS no higher education system on Dominica. But then, I didn't notice any "Mailboxes, Etc.(R)" either, which sort of screws Capitol on two counts.

What.. was St. Kitts all booked up?

A shorter and more memorable address for Mr. De Ley is:
    http://www.deley.be

With luck, this will be up and chronicling his efforts for years to come.

Also, I'm sure everyone will notice this, but the blanks at the left are indeed clickable links with pages about his C.V., etc. Now if only one knew Flemish or Dutch or whatever.

Fortunately for Capitol, they were able to find accomodations for their umcampus in the file cabinets of IBC Services, Inc. IBCS was probably running an offshore registration special that month: two mills for the price of one, thus allowing Concordia to remain in the same drawer as Capitol [IMG]

It is both of those, but it's also a redirect to the one I posted and takes longer to load.

Is the process that Capitol University operates for evaluation of college level knowledge legit? Capitol might not be but is the process as a whole real -- so to speak?

To me, it would seem unlikely that someone would present all the specific and sufficient amounts of creditable prior learning and experience to meet all the specific content areas of a college degree program.

I'm really against the awarding of life experience credit, even at accredited schools. I feel that demonstrated college-level knowledge and skills should be credited, however, and wonder why schools limit the number of credits they will accept via this form. (Actually, I know why, but don't like it. What makes the 30th credit by testing good and the 31st unacceptable?)

Capitol is selling degrees, not degree programs.

Having your unverified C.V. "evaluated" by someone with two diploma mill credentials who works as a disc jockey, and then being "awarded" a Ph.D. in two weeks?

    Not likely.

If I remember correctly Dale Berne of Berne University once told me that even the RA's allow the award of one degree earned by life experience/subject knowledge entirely per calendar year.

Has anyone else found this information to be true?
