I got a notice re the Capital One data breach. Apparently I've got a small stake in this problem. Now they're saying everyone who applies gets $125.00 but they're also saying that if you buy a product/service like LifeLock they will pay for a year of that as well. My question is this, is LifeLock effective enough to go through the process? Does it actually safeguard your info well, or even adequately. They seem to be partnered with Norton now and are offering some sort of combo package but I've never been especially impressed with Norton's antivirus package and so I'm wondering if I'm just throwing money at this problem and not really getting much in return. So how about a little identity theft advice . . .
I know this is simple, but I use https://www.creditkarma.com. Wells Fago and my credit union also notify immediately if an account is opened. The last time I leased a car, Credit Karma sent me a message instantly that my credit had been checked. Great product and you can't beat free. ; )
