I am considering enrolling in the flexpath option for the Masters in Sports Psychology at Capella. I recently took two courses at Northcentral University and did not really enjoy their style. I was wondering if anyone had any feedback and/or comparisons between NCU and Capella?
What did you not like about NCU and maybe others can help comment whether you would have a similar scenario with Capella...
I don't want to muddy the waters but want to be sure you know about these other programs . . . https://www.rockies.edu/degrees/masports.htm FSU - College of Education
The cost of the flexpath programs is not bad. It's more expensive than most other competency-based programs, but it's around the state university range for "traditional" online programs. I don't know about the specifics of Capella's programs, but competency-based programs tend to have mentors instead of instructors and no interaction with other students unless you're posting on a general discussion board. I agree with DxD. It would be interesting to know what you didn't like at NCU because there might be a lot of similarities.
Thank you everyone. My two main issues with NCU were that assignments just seemed slapped together - at times too many topics were expected to be covered but not, in my opinion, ones that could flow together for a cohesive essay. Other times the presentations which were expected to have essays written in the presenters notes seemed odd. I like the option of the flexpath as it allows me to progress at my own pace without interaction with other students or rigid deadlines. I could have progressed quicker at NCU if the deadlines were not set and they were really slow to mark assignments with vague feedback.
