    A heads-up to the naive:

The link supplied in the original post is to an article in "The Onion" magazine. About The Onion:

"The Onion is a satirical weekly publication published 52 times a year on Thursdays."

"The Onion neither publishes nor accepts letters from its readers. It is The Onion's editorial policy that the readers should have no voice whatsoever and that The Onion newspaper shall be solely a one-way conduit of information. The editorial page is reserved for the exclusive use of the newspaper staff to advance whatever opinion or agenda it sees fit, or, in certain cases, for paid advertorials by the business community." --Passed by a majority of the editorial board, March 17, 1873.

    To the original poster:

Call me staid and anal retentive -- but smile when you say it! -- but I think purely (barely) humorous posts, particularly those in a formal section of the web site and that are not clearly identified as whimsical, are a debasement to the lofty ambitions of this grand experiment in egalitarian education. For shame on you sir, for shame.

I concur that this should be expressly labeled.

Lighten up, guys. It is related to distance learning, many other postings meant to point out the absurd have been included here (in this forum) in the past, and it's obvious that June didn't mean any harm.

I've never once seen a posting that had "WARNING! WHIMSICAL CONTENT INSIDE!!" in the title, nor do I think this harmless bit of humor warrants starting a precedent.

"Debasement to the lofty ambitions of this grand experiment in egalitarian education"? Sheesh!!:D

The Onion is just great. Thanks for posting that. The introduction of their humor in this forum (now and then) is refreshing.:)

I totally disagree. I think the name of the publication alone is a sufficient disclaimer about the satirical/humorous nature of its articles. I'd be shocked to see someone reference The Onion as a source of news and information. It's like the internet version of the Daily Show.
