Just noticed that CalSouthern has appointed a new President. Dr. Roquemore was recently brought in to work under the now former President as Chancellor. He has now been selected as President. Appears to be well qualified and well experienced. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/california-southern-university-selects-chancellor-glenn-roquemore-to-be-its-next-president-301067090.html Interestingly, the President Emeritus had a PhD from Newburgh Theological Seminary. Her first stint in Higher Ed Administrative appears to have been CalSouthern. https://www.seakexperts.com/members/7791-gwen-a-finestone http://expertwitnessgriefandlossissues.com/site/mobile?url=http%3A%2F%2Fexpertwitnessgriefandlossissues.com%2FCURRICULUM_VITAE.html#3006

I wonder why they changed it from Southern California University of Professional Studies (SCUPS). As I recall, SCUPS qualified for Psychology licensure and perhaps law, so they were not like Kennedy Western University where you needed to bury the name. California Southern University seems too close to the University of Southern California. That is precisely what someone complained about on the SDN board with a grad allowing that misperception.
Maybe they tried to avoid a lawsuit by USC. Southern California University sounds better, but an educated individual should figure out the differences. For example, Columbia College is different from Columbia University; or Georgetown College is different from Georgetown University.
Or Columbia College (Columbia, SC), or Columbia College (Columbia, MO), Columbia College Hollywood, or Columbia College Chicago... and yet more with somewhat similar names... it really can get quite confusing, even though at least the first two have totally logical, place-based names.
Also Columbia College an undergraduate college of Columbia University or Georgetown College is an undergraduate college of Georgetown University.
