Does anyone have experience with California University of Pennsylvania? My son is looking at their Master of Science, Exercise Science & Health Promotions degree. We are looking for any information on this school or experience with schools offering similar programs.
    Thanks

Sorry, but I don't know much about that program at CUP (that's a little cute, isn't it?) but in general it's a decent, accredited school. I'm sure there are other choices. I've linked to one below. It strikes me that this is the sort of degree that could have a career track that includes licensure or certification by a state government, etc. If that's the case, be sure that whatever program you choose puts you (your kiddo) on the right track. Good luck.

    Hi, Puttles

I earned both my bachelor's and master's at Cal U and had a fantastic experience. If you aren't local, you probably haven't heard of it but in the Pittsburgh Area it's a relatively well known and respected state school. We call it "Harvard on the Mon" as an endearing joke because it's on the Mon River. The PA State Schools have had budget issues lately and Cal is no exception but the quality and reputation haven't seemed to change. For what it's worth, the school's football team goes really far in NCAA Division II tournament regularly. If that's an online program he is looking into, Cal is consistently ranked in the top 10 colleges in the NATION for online programs. I think the school just added a Doctoral program in that field also. If you have any other questions, just let me know. I spent 7 years there.

California University of Pennsylvania (not to be confused with Indiana Univerdity of Pennsylvania) is a well respected public university. It's name carries more weight in western ,PA (you tend to see the opposite for IUP).

But it is still a perfectly fine school.

Interestingly, ,cup also has an articulation agreement with ISSA, a DEAC accredited school offering an associates as well as fitness certifications.

Within PA CUP is, outside of its immediate geographic sphere, well known for its exercise science program. It's a regional thing but it's wholly positive not unlike Kings College for its physician assistant program or Wilkes university for its pharmacy program. It is unlikely to impress outside of its sphere of influence but it's a solid school. I'd also venture that the exercise science program likely carries decent weight in those circles which broadens the influence slightly.
