    Try www.calamuniv.edu

"California American University is licensed by the California State Bureau of Private Post-Secondary and Vocational Education..." pg 10 of the on-line catalog

I do not trust a schools web site to be 100% truthfull, I perfer to chek the source when ever possible. In this case it would be the Claifornia BPPVE inparticular BPPVE Approved Institutions - Degree and there they are on the bottom of page 26.

The school looks legitimate. The faculty listed all have their highest degrees from accredited schools, and it's an extensive faculty listing. They're approved by California, which means a lot less than it used to.

The name is interesting, though. There was a California American University operating out of Escondido in the 1980's. Paul Hersey, co-developer (with Ken Blanchard) of Situational Leadership, was on faculty and (I think) one of its principals. But the school faded away. I don't know if there is a connection between the two schools. One would think, however, that someone held the rights to the name. Perhaps a bit of cash changed hands to facilitate it.

Also, it seems expensive. They charge $240-270 per credit for master's work, and more than $13k per year for the doctorate. (The catelog says that's the tuition for the Ph.D., but this school doesn't offer the Ph.D. Go figure.)

I haven't really looked at it closely in a year or more. It's a California approved business college. It didn't have any other accreditation when I last looked, and since it's offering a D.B.A., apparently it still doesn't.

As far as I know, it doesn't offer DL.

One thing I'm curious about is their campus. I've never visited it, but the photographs on their website show a very attractive park-like setting. That's very unusual for a CA-approved school, particularly one that is only ten years old. So they obviously occupy a site that used to be something else, parhaps a corporate campus of some sort that closed up shop. So, does Cal American occupy all of it? I doubt it. Does it rent space there? I don't know, but I'd like to look at this thing with my own eyes.

No, I don't think so. My impression is that it's one of the better inhabitants of the CA-approved space. If I had to name a CA-approved business college that I like, this is one that I'd consider.

Unfortunately, I just don't understand its rationale. It offers classroom-based business programs, but it's less than a mile from CSU Los Angeles. That state university offers all kinds of accredited business related classes and programs, all very afforably. The LA area as a whole has dozens of B-schools of every description.

Cal American seems to me to have lots of Chinese immigrants in its student body and I'd speculate that it has lots of students coming to the US on student visas. (They feature INS news on their home page.) That might be part of its attraction in its target market.

13K a year in the DBA program. Ouch... I would definitely seek a RA for that cost of annual tuition.
For a CA state approved DBA, if that is what you are seeking, save yourself the money and check out www.cpu.edu - california pacific university's DBA program. About 5500 plus books and a $750 project cost I believe.
( Again, I also do not recommend utilizing a CA school unless it will meet your needs for the future as well).

    Your quite welcome..

Just wanted to also share that CPU has been in operation since 1976 and Dr.Dalton, from my conversations, appears to offer a good 1 on 1 assistance and is willing to have discussions etc. , which is what I enjoyed when considering them.

just keep in mind that CPU probably will not be seeking accreditation other than CA state approval anytime soon. They make it firm that they are happy with CA approval. I see their viewpoint, but not everyone does. Accreditation is the gold standard in our educ. society and is only going to be even more stronger a expectation going forth.

Either way, many individuals seem to do rather well with a CA doctoral degree. If you are interested in more on CPU as a choice due to a very reasonable tuition etc., seek to contact either DaveWagner or Vinipink, who are regular posters here and they will be happy to give you there experiences etc.

    Good luck in your decisions.
