Hello folks. I'm just inquiring if anyone here has had any success with business certificates. I work in law enforcement/investigations but I'm thinking of completing a short term business certificate to widen my skills. I've looked at the programs offered by University Alliance particularly Tulane. Are these programs designed for those without business knowledge or is it like a supplementary type of program? I'm mainly looking for something for students without prior business knowledge.

There are tons of them out there in all types of fields with all types of prices. The Tulane program is one of the more expensive of the lot. That being said when I spoke to them they said the certificate program does not require specific business education or training to enter, for what that's worth.

ASQ has lots of business courses ranging from $50 to $1,000+

Membership in ASQ is also worth considering for just about any career field.

    What's that - "miniMBA"? Sounds funny :)

Basically a certificate program (usually expensive ones). It really doesn't even approach a "real" MBA in content, breadth, depth or acceptance.

But they might be useful for learning new business skills or applied management and administration skills depending upon the program.
