Anyone here ever used BuddyPress? It's a social networking addon for WordPress.

Currently sites like Facebook & MySpace at blocked at my school, even though they have great educational applications. (Coincidentally, our technology plan actually calls for us to use social networking.) I came across BuddyPress and thought I could use that on my own website to get the kids involved in things, however, I'm not exactly sure how to use it. If anyone here has experience with it, I'd love to talk to you.

    Thanks!
    Matt

BuddyPress is a really cool social networking application addition to WordPress CMS. You can use BuddyPress as a standalone website or you can integrate it with Wordpress MU (multiuser) and/or bbPress. A good resource for really understanding the robustness and utility of BuddyPress and Wordpress MU are this two links (same company): WordPress, Multisite and BuddyPress Plugins, Themes and Support – WPMU DEV or Incsub – WPMU DEV, WP Plugins and BuddyDress -
You don't have to purchase anything from them. However, the do offer good tips on how to install and run these applications as well as maximize their benefits.
