https://www.edx.org/masters/online-master-business-administration-mba-bux Their curriculum is only 5 modules long.
It is an MBA, but it seems you do not have access to the on campus alumni networking and career resources. However it is a good deal with $24,000.00; my friend was accepted for the oncampus program for $88,000.00 MBA program. "Will I have access to University networking or career services? Students will have access to an online networking platform and job board, as well as online career resources available through the course."
That would appear to be the case. You can also see it described on the BU website https://www.bu.edu/questrom/admissions/graduate-programs/
I feel like this defeats the purpose of the program then. Having access to all the same stuff as the on campus students should be a must in my opinion.
Should have been more specific. Most of the MBA curriculum I've seen have a common core (e.g. org psych, accounting, marketing, etc.) and then diverge based on school, focus, etc. This program doesn't appear to have a common core.
BU is selling two products, one for those that have already a career and just a need a boost (24K) MBA and the full time residential MBA for those that need a career change (88K) MBA. They are not going to shoot themselves in the foot and offer the same to the 24K MBA graduates. It is a way just to maximize profits, they are moving into the DL scene and take market from schools like Walden, Capella, etc that offer a similar product at a similar price but at the same time they want to remain in their current market.
I just find it strange that you can purport to have an MBA without studying what is generally accepted to be required to be granted an MBA. This is not a question of rigor but actual content.
I would've questioned both if not for the courses being 9-credits each and therefore being at around 6-9 credits more than a standard MBA program (45 vs 36-39). Maybe they're approaching this in a way of packing more content into fewer courses, or maybe they're making a very interesting mistake. Time will tell. I notice the end of the link says "bux"? Sounds like Boston U and EdX couldn't contain themselves from spilling what this is really about. I kid, I know what it really means, but still...
Actually, I have looked into these areas before with CourseRA Macquarie University's Global MBA program. You learn finance, accounting, marketing, leadership, entrepreneurship, and etc within those specific areas. STRATEGISING LEADING ANALYSING INFLUENCING ADAPTING PROBLEM SOLVING URL: https://www.coursera.org/degrees/global-mba-macquarie I am assuming Boston University's EdX's MBA is approaching the same direction.
To me, I am okay with $24,000.00 MBA from the Questrom School of Business as long as no "ONLINE" indication on degree diploma and/or transcript.
It’s not just the name someone is paying for. It is also the networking and the alumni support. If Boston University does not give their online students the same networking and career services opportunities as the on campus counterparts, then what is the point of the degree? It sounds like it is designed for mid-career individuals who are looking to promote in their current field.

What an interesting article; it is what I expect about the program. As soon as I could interact with other students online or via major local hubs would be amazing. This $24k MBA from Questrom is not supposed to be networking and job huntings; but rather a prestigious named and checkmark on the corporate ladder application or promotion.
