Over the past few months, Bill Dayson has done an excellent job in utilizing his trademark, "google test", to substantiate the depth of degree utility for CA-Approved Universities. Why am I doing this, I am curious myself as to why I should be spending my time researching CA-approved schools. I have taken a keen interest in California Coast University (I am not and will not pursue any program with them). I have already an RA doc degree. The result of the google test for CCU Ph.d, D.B.A, and Ed.D degree holders follows. The long list of alumni with these degrees from CCU was a surprise to me. I wonder why CCU never seek at least, a DETC accreditation until recently. Bill, I now believe in the "google test". Thank you. For an unaccredited school I think we all believe that CCU is one of the better ones and they are not put in the diploma mill category -- just the unaccredited slot. As such, their degrees have been useful for many but their utility is still less than that of an RA school. The other part of the test is to determine if these people landed their positions based on their CCU credential. I picked a few from educational institutions to take a look at them:- 1.) The first, Carol Vollmer Pope, is not part of the university. She lists her background on the U.W - Milwaukee alumni pages where she earned her MBA. It only states that she is working on a Ph.D. from CCU. 2.) For George Andrea, he has a CCU Ph.D. from the Year 2000 with RA undergrad and MBA degrees. Interestingly, he is referenced as Mr. Andrea in the listing whereas other RA Ph.D. faculty are referred to as Dr. 3.) Dr. Gerry Ramey has been teaching at Lewis and Clark since 1980. He earned his CCU Ph.D. in 1989. His prior credntials are RA. 4.) Andrew Pennington is listed as pursuing a DBA from CCU. His position and current teaching are undoubtedly based on his prior RA credentials. 5.) Prof. Stevens (David Stevens) also has a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Western Sydney. 6.) The listing from John W Collins is his dissertation abstract under the notice from the US Copyright office. He also lists an RA Ed.D. from Seton Hall -- http://pirate.shu.edu/~collinjo/prof/resume.htm I am sure there are some exceptions but for the most part I would place my dollar on their success at RA institutions based on their RA credentials and experience over their CCU degree.
