Maybe they are preparing to apply for accreditation from DETC? It would make the most sense (disregarding it being a marketing ploy) given the limited info we have. It's a shot in the dark but I thought I saw some movement.

I remember taking at least two shots in the dark. Once I successfully hit a haybale, the other time I missed the neighbors dog. Shooting in the dark does have mixed success.

    Well,

Rich mentioned the furious Mr. Feldman from the New Hampshire Post-Secondary Education Commission. IntlEval countered on the other site with informaiton telling us to contact Dr. Dodge the Executive Director of the Commission to verify Berne's status.
I was on the web site and noticed the directory for legislation they are tracking. Take note of SB 345 (Is this possibly what Feldman is waiting for???)

According to the information that we are given, accreditation in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis is governed by two acts, the act of 1999, and the amended act of 2001.

From the St. Christopher and Nevis Accreditation of Institutions Act 1999:

7.(4) Any tertiary institution that entered into an agreement with the Government of Saint Christopher and Nevis on the basis of which such institution was accredited by the Government of Saint Christopher and Nevis to offer certain degrees or courses prior to the coming into force of this Act shall be deemed to have been accredited under the provisions of this Act, except that such institution shall continue to comply with the terms of its agreement, this Act and the regulations made thereunder for the purpose of maintaining the required academic standards.

If it's the case that Berne was accredited prior to the enactment of this act in 1999, then it sounds like it was grandfathered.

The 2001 amendments do not seem to have altered this provision.

The good news is the haybale didn't die and it really wasn't a bear. The bad news is I got to go to court to testify for another neighbor who was a better shot at canine prey than myself.

A review of Berne's accreditation will be held later this year. Lets wait and see what will happen. It will be nice to lay hands on the said acts of parliament. This will undoubtedly help clear the mist surrounding Berne's accreditation (I hope). For now, the matter is more than meet the eyes. In other words, it is not yet WYSIWYG.

(WYSIWYG stands for What You See Is What You Get).
