I know this is probably a dumb question but, I'm interested in obtaining a degree in computer science and Baker College has caught my interest. They offer a "Bachelors of Computer Science" degree is this the same as a "Bachelors of Science in Computer Science"?

After briefly looking over the BCS offered by Baker College I have formed the following opinion about their program:

    1) It has a lot of practical courses and has more programming courses than a typical Computer Science degree. If you are looking for training to an career in software development this appears to be a fine degree.

    2) If you get this degree, while you shouldn't have any problems getting into a Computer Science graduate program, I think the fact that this program appears to be light in theory-based courses and discrete math would leave you less prepared than perhaps you would have been elsewhere.

Course knowledge that is generally expected of graduate students include the following:

    a) Discrete Math
    b) Theory of Computation
    c) Analysis of Algorithms
    d) Theory of Programming Languages

While you may get some coverage of the areas above inside some of these courses, most computer science programs devote entire courses to these topics. So, you may need to take prerequisites classes to get into some graduate programs.

Some programs you may want to look at are:

    Old Dominion University
    Florida State University
