This (which I find somewhat hard to believe) was just posted to Usenet:

Subject: GED service is upgrading to AAED and BAED

From US DOE in DC an existing proposal gets push to administer AAD (Associate Arts Eqvivalency Diploma) and BAD (Bachelor of Art Equivalency Diploma)
    In liberal arts only.
The examinations will be held in GED examination centers and community collages.
The service will be available in 2004 in East USA and nation wide in 2005.
The news came in email from a member on DOE comity of d

Sorry but this info is not true.

I'm the one who posted the email on AED.

I rushed with this info to the AED and should have done a better job verifying it.

I'm going to kick my friends you now what.

SORRY! I will be more careful next time.

    Whew! That's a relief.

So people pursuing BAs now are not going to be banging their heads next year.

    Thanks, TradGrad.

At least there's something 1/4 as cool

Ah well. At least there's still Excelsior's acceptance of a high GRE score as 1/4 of a Bachelor's.

As it should. It would totally cheapen the BA if you could just test out of it like the GED. It's not supposed to be that easy, that's why it feels so great to get it. (I hope--I'll have to let you know in a couple of years :D )
