My husband is looking for a BA in Journalism completed entirely online. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Amy

Of course. There are some preliminaries, however. Some degree programs are labeled "Journalism," and some are labeled "Communications," and you can select a specialty area such as print journalism, broadcast journalism, etc. Bachelors degree programs in Journalism can be found at Deakin U, Monash U and U of Southern Queensland (all three are Australian schools) There's also a program at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. In the Communications area there are more choices (too many to list). Perhaps this will get you started:
Montana State U-Billings, Old Dominion U, and U of Maryland. You might also check out Andrew Jackson University but be sure to read the threads on DETC accreditation before making a decision. Good luck,
    Jack

    Don't let him do obituaries.

Ah, another Beatles fan. Or just another smartypants?

By the way, thanks for your suggestions, Jack. I'll look into them.

    Thanks again,
    Amy

    The latter.

Linking to a specific page didn't work but the DistanceLearn Database at Excelsior College should give a good idea of what's available though not all courses listed are necessarily online.

Thomas Edison State College offers a degree in Journalism but I don't know that the degree would have the title of Journalism or any other major. For that I'd defer to others here who know. Excelsior College and Charter Oak State College probably allow tailoring similar degrees. All of those would be by distance learning but I don't think that all courses could be taken online.

Ohio University offers another possibility but, again, not strictly through online courses.

If sorts of distance learning other than online are feasible then there are probably many possibilities. Much of the degree should be attainable through "testing out" by means of CLEP, DANTES, ECE, TECEP and whatever. This site has a wealth of information on that process as does Lawrie Miller's site.

Thanks for the links--very helpful. I've contacted Thomas Edison and Charter Oak for more information.

Re: Re: BA in Journalism online...

The University of Maryland www.umd.edu based in College Park, MD does not offer the program you are refering to. However, University of Maryland University College www.umuc.edu based in Adelphi, MD does, just to clarify.

These are two totally different Universities in the University System of Maryland www.usmd.edu, FYI.

Thank you for the clarification. I took the references straight out of the subject index of BG14. When I saw the U of M reference I suspected it might be wrong but, frankly, didn't bother to confirm it either way.
