ATTENTION: IF YOU ARE A VISITOR FROM DEGREEINFO.COM YOU SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING

    1. THEY APPEAR TO BE AFFILIATES OF DIRECTDEGREE.COM. IT IS IN THEIR BEST INTERESTS TO TEAR DOWN ANY INSTITUTION THAT DOESN’T PAY DIRECTDEGREE.COM FOR A LINK

    2. THEY ATTEMPT TO FOOL YOU INTO BELIEVING THAT THEY ARE THE PERSECUTED ANGELS OF TRUTH. THIS RUSE IS WHAT THEY RELY ON TO MAKE THEMSELVES APPEAR CREDIBLE TO YOU. SO YOU CAN CLICK ON THE LINKS THAT THEY’RE PAID TO HAVE.

    3. THEY HAVE BEEN ACCUSED OF SENDING PUT SPAM (POSSIBLY FOR DIRECTDEGREE.COM?) WHILE AT THE SAME TIME, POSTING THEIR DENIAL OF THE INCIDENT. OF COURSE, BECAUSE THEY ARE SO “TRUTHFUL”, SOMEONE ELSE HAD TO HAVE DONE IT IN THEIR NAME. UH HUH.. WE DON’T BUY IT…NEITHER SHOULD YOU.

The above is the actual text from the Web page that is displayed when you click on the link entitled Apply For USCOC Accreditation on the United States Commission of Colleges’ Site Map Web page (see here). Despite its claim to be "The recognized accrediting body for Colleges and Universities awarding degrees for life experience, work experience, and military experience," the USCOC accredits only one “school”—Armed Forces University (previously discussed here).

    :D
That showed up for a few hours the day following my post, and then was replaced with the original drivel.

Apparently there's been some recent traffic on the thread and they've picked up the referrer.

DirectDegree.com advertises Kennedy-Western. Do they think DegreeInfo is pro-Kennedy-Western?

hmmm so USCOC only accredits the "Armed Forces University" ? That should raise a flag or two I think.

I just did a Google search for "United States Commission of Colleges". There were 24 hits. Of these:

7 were pages from the USCOC website.

14 were advertising/directory sites with identical text, reading "Nationally recognized accrediting body for Colleges and Universities that award degrees based on life experience..."

And three hits were from an internet "marketing" site called "Trophy Sites". Here's some interesting text from them:

...This "life experience" includes work, prior college, and military experience and their are dozens of such Life Experience Universities popping online every day. In fact, VICAP has extimated that this industry has a weekly growth rate of 12.7% and is among the fastest growing Internet industies to date.

What makes the USCOC so valuable is the fact that they've managed to land themselves a legitimate DMOZ Directory listing in the Higher Education/Organizations category. This listing alone will boost any web site affiliated with them ten fold in the search engine rankings. "We made sure that every USCOC Accredited University receives a hyperlink from our web site to theirs. The hyperlinks ensure that our affiliated universities receive marketing value as well as the value of rising above their competitors in the arena of legitimacy." stated Dr. Arthur Fields, the USCOC Director of Accreditation...

Despite the USCOC claiming to be "nationally recognized", there were no hits from government, academic or professional sites.

What I find interesting about the site is the three month “trial accreditation.” It says much about an “accrediting” organization if they have to offer a reduced price trial to attract institutions. “Oh yes we’re am excellent organization… really, try us for three months and if you don’t like us well then you can go back to unaccredited status, no harm done.”
