Hi Forum; I’m new to this forum, I’m looking to finish my bachelors Degree in Business that I put on hold a few years ago.
A little history about me, I was a Student at FIU working a corporate job while going to school, to not make the post long I was promoted in the company and move my way up very quickly and I was able to obtain a Leadership role in the company overseeing the Latin America Region many different countries. Recently 2 years ago decided to form my own venture.
I’m now 32 and I’m the managing partner of the company; everything is going well but having my first baby on the way makes me realize that I want to finish school and maybe look at doing something different and stay with the % stock and maybe look into another coorporate Job.

I was researching different school online or on campus, I applied at a few ASU, University of Houston,Park University Austin Campus and Penn State Global.
I was accepted to all four but now I don’t know which one I should pick. I did online classes in the past but I’m the kind of person that like networking a lot so I’m inclining towards park because is in Campus the rest are online but their ranking is not the best compared to the others. I think some have some benefits than others I like the 8 weeks format rather than the 16 weeks traditional format.

Any other recommendation in Austin, Tx

    Thank you.

Can't think of any in Austin, unless UT Austin lets you complete a degree part time/evening classes.

but have you considered Harvard Extension School ?

Most classes online with 16 credits (4 mods) needed to be done on campus, could be over the summer term or one of those once a weekend on campus modules.

You can get your chance to network/join the Harvard Club too.

    Welcome to the board Luis!

I'm not sure what ASU means. Arizona State University? I live in California and am very aware of Arizona State for various reasons. It has a high profile around here and is well regarded. But... its distance learning programs are expensive. I'm less familiar with what the U. of Houston or Penn State Global offer, but they might be good choices too. (I'm unfamiliar with Park University, it might be fine too.)

What are you looking for in a program? Low cost? (Many of us are.) How quickly you can complete it? Or particular specialties or modes of delivery, which might be more personal to you?

For bachelors degree completion, I'll suggest some familiar names (to readers of this board anyway). Some of them have very liberal credit transfer policies and all of them allow testing out of many/all classes. There's

Thomas Edison State College in NJ.

    https://www.tesu.edu/

Charter Oak State College in CT.

    https://www.charteroak.edu

    And Excelsior College in NY.

    https://www.excelsior.edu/

One that I personally like is Western Governors University in UT. (I have no personal experience studying there though.)

    https://www.wgu.edu/

So take a look at them, see what they will cost you, how much of their programs you can transfer in from FIU, how you can finish off the rest and so on.

BTW, FIU offers a lot of DL programs, so could you finish your degree with them? That would eliminate the problem of transferring credits and stuff like that. It's a reasonably good school with abundant Latin American connections so maybe you should consider returning there (by distance learning).

Sorry. Apart from one big obvious one, I'm not familiar with the colleges and universities in Austin.

Thank you so much; FIU offers a BBA in Finace and management; not a business administration or general business studies.
To be honest I really don’t like the 16 weeks structure. It’s too slow pace and with a Baby on the way I prefer to do 8 weeks structure.

I also looked at Oregon State University because they are Quarter Term as opposed as Semester Term; having classes for 10 weeks; but this will spike the tuition cost a little.

I want a school that offer a 8 weeks courses that I will be able to focus on each course and finish in a shorter period of time.

Low Cost is important; my plan is to get the Bacherlor and after invest on a Good MBA program. Don’t want to pay MBA prices for a BAcherlors.

I will look at the options that you reccomend.

    Thank you again!

you might want to google on harvard extension school and comments made about them.

if you're looking for a cheap business degree, Central Methodist University offers business major, $250/credit hour. They offer 8 week classes.

    https://www.centralmethodist.edu/academics/online/index.php

Other places with cheap per credit hour cost would be

    Fort Hays State, $218/credit hour

    https://www.fhsu.edu/virtualcollege/degrees/bachelors/

Indiana University, $315 per credit hour

Better universities (base on rankings) with a business program (it cost more ~ like $500/credit hour and above)

    University of Georgia

    University of Massachusetts

Thank you plenty to choose from:
    I also was reading in the forum;
Fort Hyes is affordable as well.

Northwestern State University is not a bad option is only $100 a credit!! AACBS accredited. After 12 credits and they offer 8 weeks classes.
    https://www.nsula.edu/

Now I’m wonder if I do the Study.com transfer credit I just found out that I have a discount thru my old employeer. $100/month Wonder if they take those credits? Now I want to finish as fast as possible.

    Thanks again

    Hello Everyone;
    Thank you so much for all the responses;
So I was able to talk to an advisor and Registrar advisor at Northwestern State University.
I think I’m going to go here; Tuition here is $375 but they do take up to 90 transfer Crdit from Study.com and straighline they even gave me a sheet with the course. This would help me save a lot.
The other reason is because their Business Progran is AACSB accrediated.
I want to finish as quickly as possible to get to an MBA in Finance.

    Thank you in advance

Apply to TESU and WGU, get an evaluation of your credits but don't enroll yet. The only courses you take at the Big 3 are their cornerstone and capstone, everything is transferred in, that's a total of 114-117 out of the required 120. If you want prestige, you can have that with these two as their Business programs are ACBSP accredited. You can then decide to continue with an MBA or MSML at WGU Texas, or if you want a more recognized ACBSP MBA, try Purdue Global, they have recently purchased Kaplan University and renamed it Purdue Global, the name is well worth the upgrade cost...

Which school is better? College Payscale/ROI: https://www.payscale.com/college-salary-report/bachelors
Hmm, well...there are so many schools in the USA, at least 5-6000. I would pick a top 10% school for Undergrad and a top 5% for Grad.
You can search for the big 3 - COSC, Excelsior, TESU, and WGU. You can also search and see Colorado State and Purdue for rankings.

    Early Career Median Mid-Career Median
Ranking School (0-5 years) (10+ years)
    422 Thomas Edison State University $50,400 $90,500
    457 Excelsior College $53,800 $89,300
    604 Western Governors University $51,800 $84,800
    917 Charter Oak State College $48,000 $77,800
