Thank you so the support. I helped my sister raise him so I really love the kid. He has his good days and bad days. It's really a roller coaster and as an only child we worry about his future when he's all alone. He just finished taking a course at Khan academy and is taking another. My sister is trying to convince him to sign up for a program where he can get college credit but he is apprehensive. Hopefully soon.......

Have him sign up for OnlineDegree.com. Those courses won't be accepted at UMPI, but they're FREE and it's only $9 if he chooses to take one of the exams. That might help him build up his confidence.

Is there a typo in the URL? I get a parked domain page when I go there.

Edit: Oops! I made the typo.

I disagree with WGU not being a good option, while I understand the paranoia aspect the connection to a mentor where he can explain his condition and have someone to talk to about his journey could be beneficial, mental illness is isolating enough and truthfully I think the amount of interaction he has with others should be his decision. I also think that the medication aspect should be his and your focus, there are plenty of people with mental illness that lead perfectly normal lives because they are able to manage their medication, understand their illness and the appropriate steps to take when they have an episode. Mental illness is not the handicap that it once was. I also think that if his passion is writing than finding a program that fits that will be more important than finding something with little interaction with others. Best wishes!
