I would appreciate feedback from students at NCU regarding the course "Applied Statistics". Specifically, the level of difficulty, kinds of assignments necessary for grading and the time needed to complete the course. Thanks, Simon

    Hi Simon,

I'm taking the course now. It's pretty challenging. I have the course with Dr. Young and we basically have 3 assignments (3 chapters, 3 chapters, and 6 chapters) consisting of analytical problems and essay questions. There is also a case study final. I'm spending an average of 10 to 15 hours per week (depending on the topic I'm doing) reading the chapters, doing the problems, and working with the PowerPoint templates (which are very helpful). The CD has Excel templates for many of the problems, but I like to use Minitab to solve them when it's feasible. Bottom line--be ready to put some serious time into this course, especially if you're not that comfortable with your math ability going in.

    Hope this helps.

    Tim,

    I appreciate the detailed feedback.

Are you in the doctoral psychology program? Which specialization?
If so, are you required to take multivariate analysis? Have you taken any other psychology courses at NCU?

    Thanks,

    Simon

    Hi Simon,

I'm a business major & don't have to take multivariate stats.
