Anyone know anything about the field of HCI (Human Computer Interaction)?

I just found out that there is such a field, and I'm getting very interested in it. I'm not a programmer and have computer skills only on the advanced user level... back when the internet bubble had just started I learned to hand-code HTML and still have basic graphic design skills, I just haven't really updated anything since then. I would certainly not be qualified for any kind of Computer Science degree without taking extensive undergraduate coursework. I've already started taking courses in a general MBA program, but haven't figured out how to get into a field where I work with user interface issues and communicate between end users and system designers -- this is part of my current job, and the part I really enjoy most.

HCI seems to be a really interdisciplinary field... on one end it's extremely technical and theoretical, and forms part of Computer Science and/or Engineering departments. On the other end the University of Queensland has a "Human Factors" masters that is more in Psychology. The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has an HCI certificate that counts towards a degree in Technical Communication. What I'm looking at to work on in combination with the MBA is this certificate from the University of Missouri:

It doesn't have prerequisites and looks like a good starting-off point. Has anyone here taken any classes in this field, or worked in the field, or have any thoughts on the certificate?

Depaul (which is regionally accredited) has an HCI degree at the Masters level:

Right now it doesn't look like it is available as a distance program, but you might contact them if this is an area in which you are interested. Most of the programs in their CTI programs are available at a distance.
I still haven't decided which program to go with for my masters.
