Hey everyone, I'm currently a Penn Foster College student majoring in Business Management. I'm still working on my first semester, but I'm progressing smoothly. I enrolled on 07/01/2008 I already completed 12 lessons and need 12 more. I currently have five credits and need nine more to complete the semester. I find this program amazingly fun and easy to understand. I plan on completing my Associates with Penn Foster then transferring. I was looking at Ashworth University for a BA but it looks pricey. My current lesson average with Penn Foster is 94 so I think I have a 4.0GPA not sure. If you have any recommendations for BA let me know. I need something self paced and affordable. And I would like to hear from other Penn Foster students or graduates.

    Thanks everyone,
    Michael

Hello I graduated from Penn Foster not with a degree but with a technical diploma program. Most economical than Ashworth University is Andrew Jackson University with the sponsor programs, is almost free (no tuition that is). They are national accredited. Some others will come with other suggestions. Welcome to the board.

Depending on your timeframe, PFC will be implementing its bachelor degrees soon. Otherwise, I'd just do all the free FEMA courses (if your american), then transfer that plus your ACE transcript containing the PFC classes to TESC or EC, and finish off a bachelors more quickly and also at low cost.

What majors does Penn Foster plan to offer at the bachelor's level?

I'd be interested in knowing the source of this information. To my knowledge, PFC has never indicated that they will offer bachelor degrees. They have stated that they would either partner with another school which does offer bachelor degree programs (which they did, with Mountain State University) or acquire another school which offers them.

OK, that thread quotes a Penn Foster blog post written by...me. It was based on a news release from Penn Foster College issued quite awhile ago. In the press release PFC stated they would either acquire or partner with another institution for bachelor and masters degrees. Offering upper level courses does not mean they themselves will offer bachelor or masters degrees. I haven't heard another word, other than the MSU partnership, about PFC offering anything higher than an associate degree.

PFC or other aliases, seems to me, they are a bit behind in catching up with the times, despite they had been in business for a very very long time, I expected them to lead in the Master's and Bachelor's correspondence arena many years ago, but they didn't, the truth is that are extremely over run by others providers, unless they offer a unique and different product from the many providers out there, they will have a hard time catching up.

PFC is far from being overrun. They are the second-largest DL provider in the U.S. (behind University of Phoenix). The main thing they have going for them is they are a) very inexpensive, and b) self-paced. I do agree that they should have started providing BA and MA degrees by now.

I meant they are overun in the Bachelor's and Master's, they are way behind, even Ashworth beating them to the punch. They have strong niche in the diploma and perhaps in the Associate's degree program. But as we already know Andrew Jackson University has made their degree programs less expensive that any other DECT school out there. Do I see a change in your signature line anytime soon? :D

Yes. I plan to start the semester beginning on Sept. 29 at AJU. I'll keep working on my current semester at PFC, since I'm paying for it, and AJU is accepting those courses as transfer credit, too.

Best of luck with your studies at Andrew Jackson University.

I have been pondering the idea of taking a few courses, since the price is right, from Penn Foster to transfer into another undergraduate degree.
