Hey Jennifer I was waiting for you to post because I knew you had been through some similar circumstances. :)

I'm still considering options right now, and I found another school that might also be on my list. TAMUCC eLine is an online didactic program with clinicals scheduled in the students hometown. Generic Baccalaureate Program - Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi

It's also accredited by the CCNE. I'm a little confused, if you look at the link I posted, as to exactly how a person with a bachelors would fit into the program. I'm guessing that they would evaluate your transcripts and see what courses you have remaining before applying to the program. It looks promising though.

I'm still debating whether or not an accelerated BSN program is a good option versus trying to find a direct entry MSN (NP) program. I'm still researching those programs as well, but I really like the setup of Texas A&M's program. I really would prefer to complete the courses online and then choose a preceptor at a local hospital to learn from.

Do any of you know anything about this program? Also, Jennifer, could you PM me a list of those schools you were considering? Thanks!

Yes, I can but not this second- cooking (burning) dinner! LOL Two quick thoughts, as to why not direct MSN is because it's cheaper to earn those credits ahead of grad school. Also, right now, before you do anything else, start calling around and getting a feel for the preceptor situation. In my area pickins were slim, and the "online" component was an issue for 1 of the 2 nurse midwives I'd contacted.

I doubt you did that (burning food that is). :wavey:

I think I'm ok with the preceptor situation as I have some friends and family locally in health care that might be able to help facilitate it. I'm interested though in knowing if the problem is due to hospitals having a problem with the fact that the TAMUCC program is DL or just a shortage of available preceptors. I would prefer finding a program at least similar to TAMUCC. I still have several prereqs left to finish and I'm going to sign up for a few this coming week. I do like the idea of a direct entry MSN (NP) program though as I already have an associates, bachelors, and a masters. The research into the possibility of this has been very interesting for sure.
