Mmm... dinner. Red beans & rice? I'm not sure that's heroic, though...

Don't care! It's New Orleans, so it's GOOD! I'll take some on the side with a Po' Boy sandwich! Laissez les bons temps rouler! :)

Just a curiosity question: Did you retain your U.S. Citizenship?

Trite touristy fare. Next time in the Big Easy go for what the locals love: The Muffuletta Sandwich. Only two old 'Mom and Pop' grocery stores get it right every time. I spent a good amount of time in New Orleans during my Carrier Air Wing days, working on manpower issues.

"They will be gone, I believe, very quickly!" (Donald Trump)
Yes, they will be, Donald. Gone forever. Very quickly, I'm sure. :(

I know all about 'em, Charles. I can even get a good Muffuletta here, in my town in the frozen wastes of Canada, believe it or not. In this case, I'll stick to my preferences, thanks. And people who LIVE in New Orleans - eat Po' Boy sandwiches too -and drink long-necks of Jax and Dixie. Also, people who LIVE there don't call New Orleans "The Big Easy" as far as I know. That's for some of us outsiders - "trite touristy fare" - your phrase.

PS - why can I get one here? For the same reason they're available in New Orleans. Italian immigrants who brought the muffuletta tradition with them. The word and the sandwich - Italian origin.

Wonderful to read. I had no idea they'd be found outside of New Orleans. You must have some Sicilian neighborhoods in your Canadian wasteland. Unfortunately, I can't imagine any reason for me to ever return to New Orleans. However, it's not unlikely that I will visit Ottawa in the summer, and I daydream of doing a little pilgrimage to Cap-de-la-Madeleine.

Indeed we do. In fact in Hamilton, where I live, there are more people from one Sicilian town - Racalmuto, than there are living in Racalmuto nowadays. Plenty of people whose families were from other parts of Sicily, too. Also a very large number from mainland Italy, as one would expect. Around 60 years ago, I spent quite a bit of my spare time in that end of town. Great meals and excellent coffee - and had a chance to learn something of the language and culture. Good times. :) Non dimenticherò mai. (I'll never forget.)

I can believe that there are about 45k people dumb enough to fall for another NFT scam. I definitely doubt that the secondary market is actually trending that high. Listed doesn't equal money changing hands. I can put a used tube of toothpaste on eBay for $30k, it doesn't mean it's actually worth $30k.

Trump said they were good, so I'll buy them to show those pinko leftists that real Americans still love America!

4.5 million? That might help cover SOME of his legal bills re: Jan 6th... :(

I used to wonder about the small grifts. Why would a purported billionaire need to grift in such small amounts?

    Cash.

If estimates of his wealth are accurate, he's worth about $US3B. But most of that is tied up in real estate and other holdings. I suspect that, for his class, he's highly illiquid.

I suspect he earns about half from this deal. If so, it's a couple of million, give or take. (Depends on whether he has interest in the ones being held back to grow equity.) So, why does a billionaire sell his likeness like that? (He licensed it.) It's crass, cheesy, low-rent, and cheap.

Cash. And that it actually makes him more popular with the ones who love him.

But back to the cash. It costs at least $US10M a year to live like a billionaire. (Perhaps less for him since he doesn't travel very much, his golf and lodging are always covered, and his security detail is provided by the government.) But if your businesses aren't producing like that, it's got to come from somewhere. So, grift! To a conman, a grift is a grift, no matter how big or small. And this is a guy who leaves a Michelin Star restaurant with a pocket full of Splenda, because it was just sitting there.

People buy all kinds of things they don't like as long as it makes them money.

It looks like you guys should have sucked it up, put on a MAGA hat, and bought some.

Trump cards are now trading at a minimum of $500
This one just sold for $2330!!!

No - I'm more likely to sneak up on this, knock it down and stomp all over it. :(
