Rush - "and I’m not trying to call attention to myself."

No one would ever think that.

Give it a rest, me again. We surmised a long time ago that you're a dittohead. :D

Hi Dr. Levicoff! It's always good to hear from you. Well, at least usually. :) Please share with us your latest travels.
    • Are you stopping in certain cities to see shows -- and if so, what do you do with your semi (since it's so big)?
    • Since you're on the road 24/7, how do you bathe? Do you use truck stop showers?
    • What is your biggest pet peeve about other drivers (while you're in your semi)? [Guess: it's when cars pull in front of your giant semi?]
    • During the last election, you gave an awesome testimony about what you saw in your travels, as you zig zagged across the nation e.g. you saw mostly red Trump campaign signs in rural areas, as well as in specific states -- while the MSM portrayed the nation as supporting Hillary Rodham Clinton, Esq.
    • Do you have any current sage observations about today's current political climate? Specifically, what is your political prognostication for the upcoming midterm elections -- as well as for the next presidential election?
Sorry for all the questions, but as a trucker who is zig zagging all across the country, it provides you with some unusual and unique insights because you get to interact with so many different varieties of people -- as opposed to being stuck in one locale with the "same old same old mindset." :)

Well, I have to admit that this is one of the better examples I’ve seen in terms of someone hijacking their own thread. But, if I must comment, I’ll do so minimally since I’ve addressed most of these questions in detail over the years.

Also, while I never made a formal announcement about doing so, I should note that I retired back in March. After 20 thoroughly enjoyable years on the road, I decided that it was time to hang up the spurs and settle down. So I moved to Delaware, an overwhelmingly blue state (although that had nothing to do with my choice) that is convenient to the metro Philly area and has a lively arts scene on its own. Last weekend I caught West Side Story done live – one of the better productions I’ve seen. This weekend Evita opens live, and for the next three days we have an annual jazz festival that is one of the largest in the country.

Having given my car away a few years ago and having no desire to have another one, I get around by bus and train, which beats the 110,000+ miles I put on a tractor-trailer each year for the past decade. I live right in the middle of the city, and it’s a short train trip to either Philadelphia or Baltimore.

Would I change anything from the past 20+ years? Well, if I had known how much fun over-the-road trucking was I probably wouldn’t have bothered with either of my graduate degrees. But they were fun, too, and certainly made sense at the time. And it was nice to earn them in an era when higher education was actually affordable (and a lot more creative, individualized, and efficient than the joke it is today).

So life is still a hoot as I kick up my feet and continue to stick to one of the principles I developed during my trucking years: never to discuss any of the following areas – politics, race, religion, sex, and sports. And to continue to laugh at those who do, regardless of which side they’re on.

I am too is thinking about doing something more rewarding in life. I have been anxious for retirement so i can get away from the daily ritual of going to an office and hanging out with people I do not care to be around. Lately, I have been the villain, took me by surprise, but it has now become my only motivation to go to the office. I wll love to pitch a tent on a beach in the Caribbean, smoke legal weed, and panhandle for a living.
