I took my initial assesment for Beginning Algebra and I got a 69% grrr!! I solved a few extra problems and now my report shows 69% in blue (assessment) plus 2% in green (progress). Does it mean I have 71% and my score is ready to be reported to ACE?

No, your assessment is your score- your blue line is just practice until your next assessment.
You can order an assessment whenever you want- just go into your master account and follow the tab.
Once you DO score over 70, YOU have to report your score to ACE. ALEKS does nothing other than offer the material.
Good job! Easy 3 credits for $20!

Thanks Cook! I ordered a new assesment via the master account and scored 74 yey!!

I am about to go to ACE and submit the course so it can be added to my transcript, 3 credits in 2 days :) for 21.95. Now I have another question for you, I still have 28 days in my account. Can I take another class for credit in those 28 days? or do I need to pay another $19.99 + tax?

    Thank you

You go right on ahead and knock yourself out. You can rack up as much credit as you can for your 20-bucks. Beginning Algebra will come into most colleges under 100 level, so my suggestion is to go right into the intermediate assessment. Intermediate Algebra will absolutely be over 100 level and meet the math requirement of many degree programs. There is a lot of overlap between the two courses, so I'm sure you could complete the course inside of this month. Another thought, you could try Statistics.

Now, once you go into your ACE account and request they evaluate your ALEKS class, you will get a "pending" status. While others may disagree, you couldn't pay me a million bucks to go dump my ALEKS class and start the next one. Thing is, if the ACE process is screwed up, you have to resubmit. If you've moved on with your ALEKS class, you're in trouble because there is no record. ALEKS saves NOTHING. So, IMO, wait the 3 days it takes to process your application through ACE for approval and then start the Intermediate course. In the mean time you could brush up on your algebra using the ALEKS course product guide outline- that will give you topics to study. The better your assessment, the smaller your pie :)

    Jennifer,

Thanks for sharing your wisdom. My original plan was to take PreCalculus and Stats for Behavioral Sciences.

However my advisor at Excelsior told me both stats from ALEKS duplicate with Stats from SL.

I have already taken College Algebra and the advisor told me I could take beginning algebra and trigonometry without duplication so she approved me for those classes.

I am waiting to see what they say regarding the VESI classes transcripted via Morningside College.

As I understand it, all stats will duplicate each other. Trig and precal will probably duplicate. Just do what you've been doing- checking with your advisor each step.

Something you wrote......your advisor told you to tke beginning algebra? I'm wondering if that means EC is granting credit for that course now???? I ask because MANY students here and IC were denied credit for that course by EC. Please keep me posted!

I will keep you posted on how things go with Beginning Algebra from ALEKS but I must say that the class was suggested by the Advisor and I have it is on the list of approved classes I can take so I don't think there is going to be a problem. Now, I have another question for you. My ACE request was approved in 24 hours so Beginning Algebra is now listed on my ACE transcript. How do I proceed now? how do I drop beginning algebra so I can start trigonomery? can I do it online or do I have to call them? I have no clue and I would really appreciate your help. Thank you!!

So, if you go into your ACE transcript, and it show that your ALEKS Beg Algebra is a done deal- then you are ready for your next class. Go back into your ALEKS master account and select your next class under "edit student." Be sure you pick the one that is ACE evaluated (there are so many course products now, I think they use an *asterisk to denote ACE-evaluated, but be sure). It will tell you that everything in your prior class will be erased and you'll begin your new class. Again, just be sure you are 100% recorded on ACE before you do, and you'll be ready to rock it out! You'll do this on your computer, no reason to call.

Does the EC list tell you what course number Beg Alg comes in as?
