    I was searching around found that Albany Medical College offers a Doctorate of Professional Studies in Bioethics with two different concentrations: Health Ethics and Policy or Clinical Ethics

    Seems like a solid program that has a doctoral project rather than a dissertation. It is quite expensive as 3 credit courses cost $2,678 each. The program is an online program and maybe it can help someone in the field looking to advance or anything looking to get a doctorate.

    The AMBI Doctorate of Professional Studies program with a concentration in health ethics and policy is designed for working, health care professionals who possess a master’s degree in bioethics, or equivalent, and who seek advanced education and training in both knowledge and applied skills pertaining to health policy in the context of bioethics. This degree aims to provide trainees with advanced level knowledge and practical skills in preparation for assuming professional leadership roles in health ethics and policy.

    “Doctoral programs shall require a minimum of three academic years of full-time graduate level study after the baccalaureate degree, or their equivalent in part-time study.”(Reference: 52.2(c)(10), 50.1(o), 145-2.1 of Commissioner’s Regulations) This includes time spent working toward a Master’s degree.

    Prerequisites for entry into this program include a master’s degree in Bioethics or equivalent, as well as evidence of academic preparedness to pursue doctoral level studies. Qualified applicants will include health care professionals such as physicians, nurses, social workers and chaplains. However, we also welcome civil servants, program mangers, and individuals who work in research administration and policy. Applicants with a legal and administrative background who wish to pursue further education in health policy and ethics would also be a good fit for this program.

    Students who participate in this DPS track will complete 12 hours (4 courses) where they develop practical skills towards policy and program analysis and development, and facilitation and conflict resolution. Students will also complete 15 hours (5 courses) of online elective courses and 6 hours (2 course) of online doctoral research project, which may be a traditional doctoral thesis, 2 journal-style articles, or an advanced, applied project in the student’s workplace. Tuition for each 3-credit course is $2,678.

This degree aims to provide trainees with advanced level knowledge and practical skills in preparation for assuming professional leadership roles in clinical ethics.

Ideal candidates should be interested in expanding their current clinical role to include serving on a clinical ethics consultation service, institutional ethics committee or IRB.

    Students who participate in this DPS track will complete 18 hours (6 courses) where they develop a comprehensive knowledge of the ethics involved in all aspects of clinical care. Students will also complete 9 hours (3 courses) of online elective courses and 6 hours (2 course) of online doctoral research project, which may be a traditional doctoral thesis, 2 journal articles, or an advanced, applied project in the student’s workplace. Tuition for each 3-credit course is $2,678.
