Really? 8 Weeks??? that's awfully long... If I graduate next year and have to wait that long, I will be in a big trouble for graduate school application.... Students should be able to pick up a diplomat on the day of graduation or should be receive it within a week by mail. Why 8 weeks if there is a graduation ceremony online??? Codekiller, thanks for the info though... I hope you will recieve it anytime soon.

    tokyoboi,

I cant be sure why it taking so long to send a piece of paper through the mail or why they havent contacted me to tell me why ? But you dont have to physically have your degree in hand in order to apply to graduate school as long as you have compleleted all of your classes you can have the school send you transcript to the college you would like to attend. But I cant see how you can have a graduation without a diploma.astounding isn't it ?

maybe it will come this week if it does I will let you know !

    Codekiller,

As a matter of fact, two of schools in Europe I am thinking of applying to require a copy of my diplomat. But I will find an alternate how I can prove if I don't have that displomat.

A copy of your diploma including a transcript of grades. The copy (copies) must be verified by your educational institution (official stamp and original signature), by a public authority, or by the Embassy.

But seriously, 8 weeks.... I have no clue why it is taking so long. I hope it's on its way to you. Good luck!

    Tokyoboi,

I never heard of that befor that probably a european practice. I would ask them if they would except the transcript maybe they will hold your place till you recieve your actual diploma!

as for my letter this is day 2 and no responce from my student affairs rep pitiful I guess if I send 25 emails aday he would write me back if I dont recieve a letter by next week I will! everyday till he writes me back and increase evry week by 10 till he does.

When I graduated from the University of Southern California, it took quite a while, perhaps 8 weeks, before I received my diploma. I was able to obtain official transcripts in time to start graduate school in the fall.

No one except family members have ever seen my diploma. No school or employeer I ever applied to wanted to see anything but a transcript.

I graduated from AIU on 4/24/04 and received my degree on 05/27/04.

The degree is quite large and looks very nice, it lists my degree and right under that lists Summa Cum Laude.

Along with the degree they included a gold honor cord, I'm not sure what I'll do with that since AIU Online doesn't have graduation ceremonies for online students.

They also included two official copies of your transcript. The transcript looks like any other transcript as far as college transcripts go. It's printed on a nice colorful paper stock and would be hard to duplicate because they use the same document protection features as you find on business checks, it's called check protect. In addition to that it has the standard embossed school seal and signature of the registrar.

My only complaint is that the transcript reads AIU-ONLINE. Originally we were told that our employers or whatever would not know if we went to an online campus or a brick and mortar one.

Many schools have significant delays sending Diplomas. The good thing about that frustrating fact is that most schools are aware and tolerant of this.

I applied (June 2003) to a PhD program (Touro Univ International) while still waiting for the external defense of my MSc degree thesis from another University. I was accepted into TUI's PhD program "conditionally" pending review of my final transcripts and official diploma when issued. This took about 2 months, and was completed about 2 weeks before classes started. Whew!

My point being most schools are tolerant and will work with applicants on this. You are not alone. Even a simple email from the "old" school to the "new" school stating that you are finished, and waiting for your diploma and transcripts, may get you a secure spot on your graduate schools roster.

    Best of Luck
