Federal agents detained a suspect in connection with a deadly shooting at Brown University after officers tracked him to a hotel about 20 miles from campus, the F.B.I. director said in a social media post on Sunday. MIT professor shot to death at Brookline home. Authorities are investigating the death of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor after he was found fatally shot inside his Boston-area apartment earlier this week. So far the attack appear unrelated to shooting at Brown University but this direction is also investigated. "Louise Cohen, who is Loureiro’s upstairs neighbor, was lighting a menorah candle on Monday at around 8:30 p.m. when she heard multiple gunshots, The Boston Globe reported. Upon opening her door, Cohen reportedly witnessed Loureiro lying on his back inside the apartment building’s entrance and called 911, along with another neighbor and Loureiro’s wife. "I can’t sleep now," Cohen said, according to the Globe. "This family is so amazing. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to kill him.""
A multi-agency manhunt is currently underway in New Hampshire and the broader New England region for a person of interest believed connected to the fatal shooting of an MIT professor and a separate mass shooting at Brown University. A suspect was identified. Abandoned rental car found, taken. Now posibly the suspect is hiding in a building/barricaded that is surroundedby the task force.
