Ho hum. Not pretending to like Trump is political suicide in West Virginia, even for Democrats.

Not just West Virginia. I'm surprised that more Democrats running in red states aren't willing to acknowledge that Trump is right about some things. It needn't be a blanket 100% endorsement, just an acknowledgement that some of his positions are good ones and some Democratic party positions aren't.

I understand that admitting that is unacceptable to the ruling NYC, DC, LA and SF Democratic party elites and their media sycophants, but it's necessary if the Democrats hope to woo a few of Trump's 2016 voters (many of them ancestral Democrats) to go back to voting Democratic this time. They need to reassure voters that the Democratic party isn't just about Hollywood celebrities, illegal aliens and transvestites, that it still has something to offer regular working Americans.

Red state Democrats need to reassure voters that they won't just be safe party-line votes for whatever the Democratic party leadership wants. No matter how attractive the militant base's obsessions are in Hollywood or in Alexandria Ocasio Cortez's Bronx district, they aren't likely to be as attractive out in Middle America where many Democrats need to win local elections.
