Ah Hah guess what CSU sent me a progress report stating that I have not been enrolled for Spring Session 2004, and now out of the blue I have supervisors Dr Leo and Dr Anthony and should be more open and honest in both supevisor and candidate's comments.

According to Jocelyn of IRI/IGS they were suppose to look for supervisors from a local university. Now I am totally surprised that I had them in the first place.

CSU also wants me to fill out a progress report (what progress?) and failure to report may result in me being asked to show cause as to why the Centre for Research and Graduate Training should not withdraw me from my research higher degree for failure to make adequate progress in 2004.

I should complete the student section and return it to the centre for research and graduate training no latter than 22 October 2004. The report is impossible to fill when there has been no progress made without supervision since April 2004.

I have truly been left in the lurch and cornered!

It has dawned upon me now that I have been left out in the cold without even knowing it. I was also not aware that it was CSU's policy that students are required to re enrol each year and it is their responsibility to re enrol in their nominated program. This certainly was not communicated to me by IGS!

They also state that failure to re enrol by that date will incur a late fee - I never knew that either from IGS. Further more, what date?!

Now they say that if I have not re enrolled by February 2005 the Student Administrator will forward me a no study letter and my candidature may be terminated! - I think that has already been a foregone conclusion.

My other conclusion is that if I did pass up my dissertation by March 05 I would have already been out of the program and the only thing that would rectify the situation is more money spent. I am already out without knowing it.

Now they even want to break the news to me by asking me to see Prof Marimuthu, but what is the point when I have not been enrolled in the DBA program in the first place! I can only think of having to invest greater sums of late penalty fees and re enrolment fees for what I would consider a lost cause.

Dr Leo has never been my principal supervisor since day one and it is funny how he came into the picture.

What I am going through is really shocking!!!!!!

    Sinking in the rain

According to my MBA, a franchiser CSU is suppose to transfer expertise to a franchisee IGS/IRI. However, IGS/IRI has been represented by four former DBA representatives, the first one was a girl in her early twenties - fresh grad, the second was Bee Gan the third some guy named Raj I think, the fourth was Miss Kiran that were employed and left i.e. resigned the IRI/IGS group, and now Jocelyn who has never done a PhD in her life is suppose to oversee the whole program i.e. according to Dr Grant of CSU. She said to me that she was going to send my dissertation chapters to professors at a public local university and that was the end of that for the last three months, and that hopefull they would become my supervisor.

Dr Leo certainly is not from a local public university!

I have been merrily writing my dissertation without knowing that I have been "not enrolled" on the program. Incidently the home campus is WW. So really what do you guys make of it?????

    Technical Knockout

The reply was technically I was no longer enrolled with the university and have to make a report to them as to why they should reinstate me.

Why wasn't his communicated by IRI/IGS the franchisee, and why was not this communicated by Denise or Grant when they came to see us for a seminar few months ago.

The CSU website still states that I am a student but the form from CSU states that I am no longer a student of CSU and without substantiation be withdrawn!

That is the degree of truth George and I am not about to part with more money to continue with a lost cause.

OK, but did you give them the full story of what has transpired, and appealed on the grounds of this? You should also have the student union involved as well, if you are not having any joy in this area.

    Cheers,

    George

I am not about to manage the state of affairs of an institution and its franchisee, it is only their conscience and time will reveal the full ramifications of what they have done to me. Others be aware of what has transpired. Caveat Emptor. I had acted on uberimae fidae - in utmost good faith and expected to be treated the same too i.e. professionally. I am sad that it has come to this.

Secondly, I am too far from Australia to be in touch with the student union and don't even know that it existed.

    Hello friend:

In uberrima fide: is that a legal term? The old Latin teacher is intrigued.

As part of the fees you have paid, you have also paid a compulsory $52.00 Student Facilities and Services Fee (SFSF). This gives you access to an advocate in the union that can assist you in your grievance - email the following people:

    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]

and ask for advice on how to proceed.

Tell us how you go, OK?

    Cheers,

    George

Yes, that's because they work for the university you are having problems with, no?

    Cheers,

As I had borrowed money from my mother to pay for my DBA, my mother wants her money back as it represents 10 months wages. I guess now we have to survive on porridge - it goes further than plain rice, and stewed vegetables. You know when one falls on hard times the diet is the first one that goes.

My mother has used her hard earned savings to help me with my education, now I am unable to help her through her old age. Savings used up and my salary is just break even. I don't even have enough to maintain a wife, nevertheless children.

My dog subsist on food that we leave for her from the table and I still have to cover my car loan. My 400 sq feet one bed room flat is small. All I have is four corners to look at for consolation. It is good for the eyes.

I could only think of what I could have done with the money lost. Pay for a wedding. I also committed myself to the DBA so much so that I did not have time for socializing and getting a girlfriend. I was hoping that my DBA will impress a girl, now I don't think that is going to be possible.
