He's probably referring to the Executive Doctor of Management, which requires one four-day and three three-day residencies each semester.

The tuition of $45,000 per year is just outrageous.

    Another possible

Cross your fingers and hope - but in the next few years, Nova Southeastern may (yes, I say "may") join the AACSB club. They certainly want to and are expending significant effort to get there.

As part of this effort they are trimming DBA enrollment to 100 students. It will be increasingly difficult to get in the program.

    Depends.

If you're the type of student that fits their demograph for admission you should already be making three to four times that annually if you've been responsible with your career choices towards the end of making income. Of course, if this is the case you also likely have corporate sponsorship which further reduces the hit.

Second, it's a well-known, well-ranked school offering an AACSB accredited doctorate. It's going to cost money in the current market considering what the competition can currently offer.

Edit: I initially thought this program was online and there was a tag in the original post that said "online for the most part". After a full review, the program has something on the order of 12 residencies over three years. Not good for the true online learner.

At $45,000/yeaqr times three years, that's $135,000 total program tuition for the Executive DM. About the same as what Duke charges for their Executive MBA.

I was reading up on the Kennesaw DBA program and read what they had to say about the difference in DBA vs. PhD. They have an interesting take on it.....

"Both PhDs and DBAs are terminal degrees. The DBA is more applied business theory and the PHD is more development of business theory. Both have strong research emphasis. The DBA focuses more on mature individuals with business experience and therefore has a shorter training period (3-4 years) while the PHD focuses on young individuals with little experience -- hence they have a longer training period (4-5 years or longer)."

Hmmm.....equally interesting.....the faq for Kennesaw states that the GMAT or GRE is not required for admission to the DBA program.

"Tuition for the three-year program is currently $99,5001, which covers tuition, books and food while on campus. Travel and lodging expenses are not covered."

I guess if you look at the cost of some MBAs this isn't so bad but more than Kennesaw which is just up the road and in a heck of lot nicer location.

Neither. They call it an Executive Doctor of Business....whatever that is.
