I think i have hit the point of diminishing returns on my degree plan. It seems the more i search the more options i find.

So the only things i can confirm for sure are that I am getting into a Business program. And that I want a Bachelor's from a Regionally accredited institution.

I will be testing out of a majority of my courses through StraighterLine and maybe excelsior. DSST and CLEP would have been better but to take them i would need to do some serious flying to get to the test centers.

On a happy note my search has for the most part been limited to SL's partner colleges as they will take the credits directly. Not sure how to go about looking to find out what happens if i were to open a credit bank with ACE and approach universities that accept ACE credit. If there is some sort of way to determine course equivalency for ACE credits to a program i have not come across it yet.

Right sorry for the grandfather tale. But here is my dilemma.

Upper Iowa University which is among my first choices is pretty straight forward so i dont really worry to much about it. Its my choice for a BSBA with a minor in Financial Management. Plus it allows 90 credits to be transferred.

CSU world campus is interesting for its BSBM with a specialization in Small Business and Entrepreneurship. But while it allows 90 credits to be transferred into the program only 60 can be from Non Traditional Credit (DSST, ClEP, straighterline) so i was wondering if anyone here joined CSU with an associates and if they have an understanding of the criteria for credit evaluation. For example if i were to transfer my SL credits to TESC got an Associates and then approached CSU would the SL credits count as part of the 60 non traditional credits or would they judge it separately.

Oh right why i dont really consider TESC anymore is mostly due to its 12 week program. Time is the issue for the most part but costs are another consideration as well anything upto $400 per credit seems reasonable.

Any suggestions on Universities that are RA will accept 90 credit hours (ACE credits and excelsior, specifically) and run between 5-8 weeks. I'm self employed so i can take time off from work to focus solely on college (once i get all the required credits).

Charter Oak State...but they really only grant general "liberal arts", though you can concentrate in business...not really much practical difference especially if your trying to maximize SL and credit by exam. But the lack of "degree in business" on your paper seems to matter to many folks.

It's not lacking on your transcript, it's just called a concentration instead of a major, which in the eight years since I graduated has had exactly zero negative effect on my career and further study. If this is one's sole reason for disregarding Charter Oak, that's a mistake.

I graduated from COSC in 2003 and it has NEVER been an issue for me. My concentration was "Individualized Studies" which is about as liberal arts like as you can get.

I agree with you both wholeheartedly...some, especially posters "new" to the glories of the big three have preconceived notions that COSC's lack of a "major" is disabling. I've even seen many an argument made that the major simply MUST be on the physical degree or it's somehow invalid. I to attended COSC and I'm quite happy with my degree exactly as it is.

To Damnation...Charter Oak, Excelsior, and Thomas Edison are three schools you should check thoroughly. We know them affectionately as the "Big 3". They are rather unique in that they are all regionally accredited schools that will accept almost ALL of the required 120 credits for a Bachelors degree from sources like CLEP/DSST/Straighterline, even FEMA independent study. You can even bring in cheap RA credits from distance options like the University of Idaho Independent Study or CSU-Pueblo IS courses....done this way you should be able to pull off a BA or BS in record time for well under $10K. Many have done this in 12-18 months starting from 0 credits, some can even do it quicker, many take longer...kinda up to you. $400/credit for undergrad is nuts IMO, U of Idaho is a little over $100/credit, CSU-Pueblo is about $150/credit. COSC has cut their enrollment fee's and their out of State rate is only about $250/credit...and they would only require 6 credits in residency.

Same here...2011 :) Though my resume reflects what I actually studied Organizational Leadership and Health Care.

I list it as "Business and Technology" and, as a side note, I went from an AA degree to a BS degee in about 3-4 months.

While the enrollment fee is high, TESC charges $229 per credit hour under the Enrolled Options Plan and $8,300 a year under the Comprehensive Tuition Plan. The only time tuition is expensive is under their new per credit hour plan which makes little sense for anyone to choose, and you don't have to. For the BSBA in General Management, you don't have to take one course at TESC. You can use Straighterline and tests to complete the whole thing.

Charter Oak has cheaper fees than TESC, but I have to make a correction. Out-of-state tuition is $339 per credit hour.

I believe it is still possible to test out of every requirement in the TESC BS Business Admin. Probably one of the last degree's in which that's still possible. BSBA in General Management Degree Program CLEP - College-Level Exam Program DANTES It's a great choice.

    Whats your end goal?
Planning to use any financial aid?....PELL won't work for SL or CBE.

Note that COSC and TESC will both take around 30 credits via FEMA IS Courses free of any cost Emergency Management Institute | Independent Study (IS) - Course List These are available to US residents (and foreigners in some specific instances). 30 of these can be done really quickly....like in afew weeks and it could shave 1 year of credit off. EC also takes these but you wind up getting charged about $80/credit for them. TESC will take right around 30 credits of FEMA...but there's only room for 6 in the BSBA degree plan.
