Their website only mentions ECE I would ask them before you have a different company do the evaluation.

In for a PENNY, in for a POUND!

Yes, Im a Brit who has been around the block in most of the world's education systems, including the US. What I am about to write is not, per se, a rebuke of the US education system and all that goes with it, not am I supporting any other country's system.

All this stated, it generally remains true, in my experience, the North Americans tend to judge everythng by their own standards - not surprising at once level of analysis. Let me give an example. There is a general, de facto assumption that because an institutiuon is 'regionally accredited' - it's up to scracth academically. Anyone who believes this is, in my experience deluding themselves. By and large thew accrediting agencies have litle regard for academic quality and assessment standards. The focus is on administrative and academic bureaucracy. The same cannot be said for many European countries, especially my own (UK).

When it comes to the transfer of credit I've seen reputable agencies stating that a doctorate from Oxford or Cambridge is 'equivalent to a middle of the road regionally accredited doctoral degree granting institution in the US' - heaven forbid! Of course, there are some excellent institutons in the US (and I don't just mean Harvard, Yale, etc) but there are, in my view, regionally accredited doctoral degree granting institutions which, ont he basis of the work I've seen accepted should immediately (by my standards) be stripped of the power to award such degrees! So, the question of credit transfer and standards in the US remains, at best 'illusory'! Across a wide spectrum of US institutions, we all know which are good and we also know which, despite being regionally accredited are XY and Z! I've seen work from on-accredited US institutions that far exceeds acceptable submissions at accredited institutions. president Reagan called for a complete overhaul of the accrediting system and it is time it happened - in my view. In Europe we are taking the biggest overhaul of recognition/accreditation for nearly one hundred years across all EU countries. It's time the US did likewise.

    ECE woes....

Had a neighbor who attended a foreign university recently have her transcripts evaluated by ECE. Her plan was to enroll in COSC or TESC. Geez, talk about butchers. Not only did she lose a truck-load of credits, ECE dropped her GPA like a rock off a cliff (some Bs and Cs turned into Ds). Needless to say, she was in tears when she received her official eval back from these folks. I seriously believe COSC and other colleges should require 2 evaluations from these so called "foreign-education eval experts". How could a second opinion hurt (other than the wallet)? Between 2 evals, US-based schools could find a happy median for foreign-earned college credits. I advised her to just CLEP what she didn't get credit for to "prove" completion and proficiency.

While Excelsior requires you to use Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc., Charter Oak does not: it also accepts evaluations from World Education Services.

Thomas Edison does not accept either of those. It requires you to use the AACRAO Foreign Education Credential Service.

Northeastern Illinois University and British Columbia Open University evaluate foreign credits internally, and should be more generous than the Big 3.
