    I know it may sound a bit weird, but I am looking for a DETC college/university which is as cheap as possible and will allow a large amount of credit hours. Any help will be appreciated.

    Regards

    California College for Health Sciences is $133.00 per credit hour. Go to DETC for a complete listing of their accredited schools. I cannot answer your question about credit hours.

    Thanks for the really quick reply.
    Have have quite a few credit hours in business related courses. The name of the degree is not that important because I only need it in order to start on a master.

    Morten: FYI - DETC schools can accept a maximum of 90 credits into an undergraduate program so you will still need to take 10 3 credit courses in order to earn the degree even if that will take you over the required number of units. If you have a lot of credits you may be better off looking at what are often referred to in this group as the Big Three - schools where you can earn a degree using credits, portfolio and testing. A search of this forum, or a visit to the website http://www.bain4weeks.com/ will tell you what you need to know.

    That said, undergraduate ccourses at Aspen, a DETC accredited school, are $450 each.

    Cheap DETC school

    Hi, i am currently enrolled at ACCIS in the BS in Computer Science.
    i had about 90 credit hours earned at different institutions.
    They took 66 of my hours, so entered the college just needing to complete 54 credit hours wich are the 300 and 400 level courses
    and 2 200 courses... 16 courses in total... tuition is $130 x credit
    but they offered me a "back to school" promotion, so it was $1500 less
    in sum, my total tuition is: $5520.... plus, here comes the great thing: they offer GREAT INTEREST FREE FINANCING PLANS
    with a down payment of $1400 i financed my degree in 48 months
    and now i am paying just $80 x month, affordable for EVERYBODY
    i am happy with my decision and academically speaking ACCIS is a very decent school

    MBA
    To earn an MBA degree requires completion of 37 credit hours. Students may transfer up to six credit hours from graduate programs at other institutions. In this new program, you may enroll in four courses (one year) at the introductory tuition rate of $180 per credit hour, instead of the scheduled tuition of $195. Payment in full is required upon enrollment.

    Remember, tuition is based on the number of courses required after deductions are made for transfer credits and for life and work experience credits.

    They need payment in full !!!:confused: are they really accredited? I think its waste of $$$

    There are no cheap detc schools. They are all expensive as hell.

    Seems per course $400+/- at CCHS and $450 at Aspen is a far cry from "expensive as hell".

    $400 per course IS expensive as hell.

    you'd be better off going to community college paying like $23 a credit and then converting the courses into a degree at excelsior of one of those types of schools.

    Not all of us live in an area where there are 23 dollar a credit hour comm colleges... :rolleyes:

    In my neck of the woods community colleges only offer Associates degrees. Students who want Bachelors degrees typically transfer over to 4 year schools after earning their Associates degree. My point is this. Someone who already has a large number of credits isn't going to be able to "finish up" at a community college. They don't offer the upper level undergrad courses that this person would require (at any price).

    This can be done cheaply through CLEP exams and so forth.

    Also, many RA 4 year universities, especially state universities are extremely cheap.

    There is no way i would pay $400 per course for some puny DETC degree.

    You have already established that you do not consider $400 per course as "cheap". What are some of the many RA four year universities that offer courses via distance learning for less than $400 per course, or whatever cost you consider "extremely cheap"?

    Yep there are probably hundreds of RA schools cheaper but just two are:

    http://www.is.lsu.edu/college/faq/#1_6
    Lousiana State University/Metro. College at $67 per credit or roughly $211 per three hour course;

    http://www.eou.edu/dde/webadv/TuitionFees/TuitionFees.htm
    Eastern Oregon State University at $114 per credit or roughly $342 per course;

    Keep in mind these are RA so their utility and value will often be much higher than DETC. Again for lower division CC are hard to beat. The original poster hasn't given us enough details to help with specific examples. There use to be a list of the 100 or 200 cheapest RA schools. It was posted several times here a couple of years ago.

    Specificity is a good thing. Two good examples.
