Regionally accredited by the Middle States Association. That is good.

 

The school website does not mention anything about accreditation and I mistook it is unaccredited.

I have the Chartered Financial Consultant designation from The American College. So if the school is accredited, does that mean the designations it offers are also accredited? How does it different from the Certified Financial Planner designation from Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards? Can we argue that the Certified Financial Planner designation is not accredited because the CFP Board of Standards is not RA?

 

The diploma of Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) is offered through the American College but I am not sure whether the diploma for ChFC is accredited or not. Regarding Certified Financial Planner (CFP), I always am of the opinion that CFP is self-certification (self-certification board created by Standard Inc. which offers this CFP trademark).

Pls correct me if I am wrong

 

CFP

The CFP mark is a professional designation, much like the CPA. As such, academic accreditation is not really relevant. The mark originated through the College for Financial Planning, which is accredited. Currently, though, the mark is administered through the CFP Board of Standards. There is no academic connection per se.

Schools that offer CFP curriculum (to qualify to sit for the exam), however, are regionally accredited.

CPA vs CFP

Well... CPA is a license issued by one of the states to practice public accounting, while, CFP is just a certificate issued by the CFP Board and Standards. They are not the same.

Speaking as someone who earned the ARM, CPCU and CPHRM designations (all insurance related), there are several colleges that grant academic credit for these designations. There are also some schools offering insurance or risk management courses that as part of the curriculum have their students earn some of these designations.

Accreditation does not matter for professional Designation??, i.e. accreditation does not required??

Someone did tell me there is no academic accreditation for Professional designation (or professional exam) but there is a few famous organisations offering accreditation for professional designation (exam). Is this true and what are they?? THANK YOU FOR ADVICE !!

You're right the CPA does conform to State regulations, so in that respect they are different. This is largely due to the fact that certain entities are required by law to be audited, and no such requirement exists for financial planning.

Nevertheless, to say that a CFP or CPA is accredited doesn't make any sense. Yes, you can receive academic credit for the classes you take as part of the certification process, and those schools are all regionally accredited. If you extend your certification to a degree, then that degree is accredited; the designation is not; it is not an academic designation. In fact, you can sit for the exams without taking the education programs provided you have enough work experience.
