    Hi, Dr. Bear and Everyone,

Based on past experience, when an institution fails to achieve DETC or similar accreditation, are they usually able to continue operating indefinitely? Or, do they often cease operations soon thereafter? I think this would be an important question to answer for current students attending these various institutions who anticipate that those institutions will continuing to be going concerns. Thanks for your help on this!

If a school has been operating 10, 20 or 30 years without accreditation, nothing will change. I am sure many of them will try again in the future.

The students, who enrolled in an unaccredited school, wil probably graduate from an unaccredited school.

    No DETC yet

For what it is worth... I checked out Southwest and St. Johns University web pages.

No listing of DETC approval as of yet. I went on to the Louisiana Board of Regents Web page. I believe if they both do not get the accreditation, it will not be legal for either of them to operate there.

If that will stop them, who knows. One should use caution .

    Hope this helps.
