American World University claims itself on their site front page"Established in 1989, American World University has graduated thousands of students from more than 40 countries worldwide. " But under their own history section:"American World University, a global institution of higher learning, was founded in the Fall of ?1990 , in response to the need for quality distance learning at the college level apparently weird?
Maybe when they were closed down by the state of Louisiana, they decided that didn't really count, and they really started later from their secretarial service in Iowa.
John and Russel, Thanks for your responses. John, you brought up the issue that Dr.Asher's accrediting agency has been sued before by an unaccredited school.can i request you to provide me with concrete data like timeline etc..i wish to incorporate this info into my report to the authority in an attempt to shut down their despicable operation in China. If anyone has been duped by AWU before, please put in apithy comment,so I can merger them into the report if the info is verifiable. Thanks all for your great info.
The details appear on page 60 of the current (15th) edition of Bears' Guide. The highlights of the matter, as made public by Taft in May 2000, include: 1. WAUC accredited Taft without any site visit. 2. WAUC promoted itself as a non-profit organization, but they were really for-profit. 3. WAUC was "not able to provide any documented evidence that they had ever conducted a site visit at any member institution." For the record, WAUC promptly accredited "Edison University" when it was opened, from his prison cell, by the founder of LaSalle University, after he pleaded guilty to fraud and was sent to federal prison. They also accredited (and still do, last time I checked) Cambridge State University, run from a mailbox address in Hawaii, successfully sued by the state of Hawaii, and, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune newspaper, started with a $1 million loan from Ronald Pellar, now-imprisoned founder of the notorious diploma mill, Columbia State University.
I'm tired of all these universities that are run from mailbox addresses. I want to start a school that's different...mine will be run from a telegraph office. Interested?
I'm a little rusty on Morse Code, but let's see if I can decipher this, John. American World University has just gained regional accreditation as a Level VI institution of higher learning. Or at least this appears to be what it says.
Here's your handy-dandy Morse code translator, into or out of, complete with optional sound effects. What would old Samuel Finley Breese Morse*, without whom there would have been no Cornell University, have thought? http://www.soton.ac.uk/~scp93ch/morse/index.html?http://www.soton.ac.uk/~scp93ch/morse/trans.html _______ * The middle names were a final question on the $64,000 question once, so of course I remembered them in case someone ever offered me money for knoing this important thing.
Who needs an address I'm tired of all these universities that are run from mailbox addresses. I want to start a school that's different...mine will be run from a telegraph office. Interested? ___________________________________________________ Look at Almeda College and University. Following the links from a pop-up ad on my computer, I cannot even find a mailbox, PO Box, Cat Box, Etc. They do have a cute site though. Purty site, Purty diploma.
