    I guess I did not think of this as a degree, but more of a post masters credential. When I built the poll, I did not consider including it.

    Yep, I agree, Ox. It was a continuing ed course, Tuesday/Thursday evenings for five weeks, two hours each class. It took me several hours to prepare the first PP presentation, one hour to do the second and the rest is history. 20 hours and I'm a PP professional. ;)

    Dan, congratulations! I was wondering a few weeks ago if you'd finished up at COSC. Are you making the big trip for graduation?

  5. It would be interesting . . .

    . . . to see a breakdown of the doctorate degrees (ten thus far).

    But that's only because I think D.Min. degrees shouldn't count. :p

    The theoretical combinations are almost endless....each degree level with the RA/DETC/State approved/unaccredited/GAAP tags...it could go on forever.

    As far as D.Min. degrees (legitimately accredited), it's my belief that they should count towards the "Doctor" category. Where else would you put a legitimate DOCTOR of Ministry degree???

    On an average the degree requirements are as follows:

    Doctor of Philosophy

    BA=120 hours
    MA=48 hours
    Ph.D.=60 hours

    Total Hours=228 hours

    Doctor of Ministry

    BA=120 hours
    MDiv=96 hours
    D.Min.=36 hours

    Total Hours=252 Hours

    Hmmm, I don't know where the D.Min. should be placed. Perhaps alongside the DBA, DDS, MD, and all other legitimate doctorates. Of course, we know Steve has the bestest, the mostest and the greatest Ph.D. ever. Why? Because Steve worked the hardest, sacrificed the mostest and wrote the longest dissertation ever. I'm getting tired just thinking about all the effort that went into Steve's doctorate. ;)

    Well, my sheepskin contains the "D" word, so I clicked accordingly, but I don't feel good about it...

    It takes twenty hours to learn the AutoSermon Presentation Template. Unlike ordinary PPT templates, the AutoSermon template automatically downloads weekly sermons, which include point outline, joke-of-the-day, and wake-up-the-congregation reminders. :)

    Not sure yet, My wife does not fly well, [takes a nyquill shooter as soon as wheels up] and it is on the other side of the country.

    I have paved the way for others, a friend is also a Certified Orthotist and is working on with Prosthetic certification. When he does that he will also be able to use the special assessment instead of a portfolio. MUCH less expensive and lots of credit.

    I was lucky a school in Connecticut that teaches prosthetics and orthotics to do the assessment.

    My degree will be Individulized studies with a concentration in Prosthetics/orthotics and business.

    This means I will well and truly be able to tell how much something costs when they quote it as costing an arm and and a leg. :D

    If it's at all possible, I highly recommend going to graduation. I went against my will to my undergraduate commencement because my father wanted to go (I was, and still am, the only member of my family to earn a degree), and I'm now really glad that I did.

    no degrees

    I believe the most enlightening stats from the poll are the two AA degrees (one to soon be a Bachelor's) and three no degrees among senior members of the forum.

    Do those plan to start a degree program soon?

    Re: no degrees

    Actually, they may well be involved in degree programs already. I listed myself as Bachelors, because that is highest level completed. I am in a MA program, though.

    So they may have to list "no degree" but be in a BA or BS program now.

    Bruce,

    Do we know how many Senior Members there are on the system?

    I wonder how many have been captured in the poll.

    Thanks,
    John

    Re: no degrees

    Bill,

    Remember senior member means we have posted certain number of times, not that we are the most knowledgeable. I came over from AED during the Flame wars, looking for the school that would be best for my Bachelor degree. I attended California Coast University, and will throw in my two cents when they come up in threads. I also will discuss the big Three especially COSC and when people ask about how old is old for credit from college long ago, since I transferred in credit from 1969-1972.

    Many of the senior members that are working on a degree are very easy to spot [Tom Head, Rich Douglas etc.] others like me are not as involved with the various technical aspects of distance learning and tend to lurk more.

    The more interesting poll would be the same poll 2 years from now. This will tell you how many of us are working our way up the food chain. This poll is a single point in time, so we will not see the ongoing work. We have at least two seniors that are completing degrees, and then there is Tom Head, who I think is going for the “whole collection”

    It is interesting; however, we probably shouldn't assume all that voted are senior members.

    As one of the senior lepers...urr...members without a degree, let me assure you that as educational as I find this forum, I am not engaged in the mill-like process of rationalizing the quality of my education. I am in the process of attaining a degree from a RA school. (I am gathering credit from clep/dantes as of now, and also looking for a school with liberal standardized credit policies. Know of any? :D )

    Thanks,
    Tony

    Then you would need to add working on masters & working on doctorate too!
