I think I know why Chadwick University is not accepting application. Let’s say that ACCIS will have a business administration programs soon.

    That makes sense, Tommy.

If I owned 4 or 5 schools, and only one had recognized accreditation, I'd want to move all my degree programs into the accredited school. It would take DETC approval, but it is a lot easier to add new programs than to get initial accreditation.

Speaking of which, a search of DETC.org shows the only school that (so far) got its new accreditation in 2003 is the College of the Humanities and Sciences in Arizona.

Also, ACCIS is the only one of Clayton's schools that's getting much advertising. Before ACCIS was accredited by DETC, you'd see ads for both Chadwick and ACCIS. So even if they tried to get Chadwick accredited, it probably wouldn't have the name brand that ACCIS has.

Will business administration students want to take degrees from a computer school? I guess we (or ACCIS) will see.

Sure, why not? The (na) school I attend is a business school but has many more students in health sciences and computer science.

Also, the ability to use financial aid in their degree path, not to mention some kind of accreditation, is a big bonus.

Will it change the curriculum? I doubt it will change it very much. How about the acceptance? Well, it certainly couldn't hurt.

Rich: "...So even if they tried to get Chadwick accredited..."

John: When I visited DETC once, about five years ago, there were about 30 book cartons that had been sent from Chadwick to DETC piled in the hallway. I'm sure you will draw the same conclusion that I did.

Would Chadwick go out of business? If so, would Chadwick graduates have to contact ACCIS if they need Chadwick to forward transcripts to potential employers and other schools ?
Would Chadwick degrees (especially those that were awarded after Chadwick became licensed by the Alabama Dept of Education) be honored by ACCIS?

These are good questions which, of course, can only be answered by the people of Chadwick. If you ask them and get an answer, do report it here.

Acceptance of Chadwick degrees by ACCIS might also be dependent on the
ACCIS accreditor, DETC. I believe there was one case reported here where a school that was an accreditation candidate (Northcentral U) declined credits from an unaccredited California-approved school owned by the same person (SCUPS).
