    Re: Post on TESC website

I'm not a fan of those boards, at least as compared to the community here. I prefer the more "instant" nature of this place ... :)

    Ricardo and Karen,

I, too, am down to choosing either TESC or Excelsior for my BSBA/Finance. I haven't received enough information just yet from Excelsior, but so far tend to lean more towards TESC.

It's been 10 years since I've been in school, and I have about 70 credits to transfer. I like the fact that TESC looks like they will take them all. I really don't care to take anymore classes than I have to - I have four kids (2,3,7,9), so I can't handle anything too rigourous, either. Neither seem too rigorous.

I like the idea of "testing out." It's all new to me so I'm trying to look more into it. Thanks for the layout, Ricardo. Thank you to all on this forum - so much information! It's been incredibly helpful!

    Good Luck!

    Lynn

    P.S.
    Congrats on the CLEP, Karen!

    Re: Ricardo asks...

Due to the incredible costs of the TECEP exams ($400 a piece!), taking Clep, DSST, ECE, or having other transferrable credit would be preferred. In other words, if there is a clep biology, and a TECEP biology, obviously taking the clep biology ($75) would be more economical.

The exception would be if that particular degree required an upper level version of the class (e.g. DSST organizational Behavior, lower level, vs ECE Organizational Behavior, upper level)

Agreed, but you don't need to exaggerate the costs. For enrolled students, they are $62 per unit (or $186 for a 3 unit class) and for others, they are $124 per (or $372 for a 3 unit class).

Probably not a good choice if you are not a TESC student (because there are so many cheaper alternatives). However, if you are a TESC student and want to finish quicker, the additional testing dates can be helpful. You wouldn't want to only use TECEP, but in a combination of tests, it's not bad.
