Elon Musk's brain implant company has received FDA approval, and will begin human trials
The Neuralink company announced receiving the approval from the US Food and Drug Administration on its Twitter account: "An important step that will allow our technology to help people."

Hope they can help Dementia and Parkinson patients among others, maybe stroke patients as well.

This sounds like a recent plot from General Hospital.

    Art imitates life?

Or does life imitate art? The storyline began in 2014. It was basically where they did memory swapping of twins. It was later revealed that the person who developed the procedure was motivated by his wife's dementia. It was supposed to help Alzheimer and dementia patients but it was stolen by villains who used it for evil.

Is it true that we only use like 10% of our brainpower or something? Or is that just an old tall tale?

If it is true, why don’t we invest in upping the CPU usage?

    Old tall tale.

It's only about 10% at any one time. But that doesn't mean there isn't 100% usage over all. Like when you're jumping rope, you're usually not using the part of your brain where recipes are stored. Petting a cat doesn't require complex algebra.

People who do use 100% of their brain at once are having seizures.

The explanation I've heard is that it's like saying you only use one third of a traffic light at a time.

Why don't I trust Elon with my brain?

If I were locked in, sure, I'd take the chance. But not with my existing brain that works reasonably normally.

Don't much like the man -- not getting into the reasons. But his Mother is an outstanding success, and I applaud her. At 75, Maye Musk is still doing - and looking - great, on the runway. She continues to enjoy an outstanding modelling career - works only for the best. Her career has flourished for 50 years, so far. Ms. Musk is also a dietitian. What she knows, obviously works.

Elon - Means "oak tree" in Hebrew. According to the Old Testament this was the name of one of the ruling judges of the Israelites. A notable modern bearer is the entrepreneur Elon Musk (1971-), who was born in South Africa and also holds Canadian and American citizenship (he is not Jewish).
El in his name stands of name of Canaanite god EL.
    Not the same as Eldorado.

It's Biblical; rare, but not unique.

Edit: Lerner beat me to it!

Or El Camino - or any other GM vehicle.

I just looked to see if "Rulon" (as in Jeffs) was Biblical or meant anything in Hebrew. It doesn't. It's an altered pronunciation of the French "Rolland." Said to be of Huguenot origin. Odd - Rulon Jeffs was a LDS (Mormon) religious leader (and polygamist.)

OK enough of Rulon. We're back to our regular programming -- and Elon.
