Trump doesn't like anyone else to have the spotlight but himself. Kanye West is a hot potato now. I'm surprised Trump did a meeting with him. West had claimed he asked Trump to be the rapper’s vice presidential running mate in 2024. Lol.

Trump was talking trash about Elon Musk not long ago.

"When Elon Musk came to the White House asking me for help on all of his many subsidized projects, whether it’s electric cars that don’t drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocketships to nowhere, without which subsidies he’d be worthless, and telling me how he was a big Trump fan and Republican, I could have said, ‘drop to your knees and beg,’ and he would have done it,” said Trump

Why would Elon need to beg Trump as congress authorized the subsidized projects? Elon did make most of his fortune on a Tesla bailout from the government, though he paid the loan back.

Betting odds say only a 35% chance that Trump will win the Republican primary, so I bet a lot of people would be happy about that.

People still vote for Trump despite all his flaws because people would rather have a president that will grab them in P than one that is going to F them in the A.

Have things settled down with Kanye West?

Nobody on this thread has posted any news lately.

Sad, thinking he needs help. :( Which type of help, I am not sure.

Read about him being bipolar. Do not know if he is taking medication for that or needs his meds adjusted?

Recent news, he reportedly said he likes Hitler.

In other news, read he is no longer buying Parler.

Will this hurt Kanye West's run for president?

I normally ignore anything that Alex Jones says since he routinely parrots far-fetched and often asinine viewpoints. That said, I saw the interview. IMO, West's comments are a result of an ad hock theology that is a conflation of a reactionary sentiment to popular western opinion, narcissism, his own personal woes, and Christianity. Blaming his statements on "mental illness" is convenient but does not account for either the method, the consistency, and the rationale given. Unfortunately, Americans have a habit of labeling every unusual viewpoint, especially exceptionally bad ones, as "sick" or "mentally ill." This is both unhelpful and presupposes the legitimacy of a therapeutic culture that boils the human mind down to conformity to popular opinion (e.g., the serial killer isn't merely evil, he's "sick"). Better, West is trolling people in the most effective way since 45.

I don't think so. Because, he's not a serious candidate running for President. I do think this will hurt Ye's future financial prospects though.

West's mental illness is public knowledge; he's spoken about it himself, albeit as something he considers positive:

I agree that not all evil can be attributed to mental illness, but West is not a go-to example.

"Effective" is an interesting choice of words. What do you believe that he's accomplishing through this behavior? What goals do you believe this helps him reach?

Folks commonly claim to have this or that "mental illness." It's one thing to have a diagnosis and another to self-diagnose. Were we to even grant that West has a disease called bipolar, it does not follow that his comments are necessarily a result of that disease.

"Effective" as in achieving his goal(s). What those goals consist of is anyone's guess.

Effective at burning through money in the shortest period of time possible?
Effective at making a large percentage of people not like you?

I think that there's a serious chance that we might be hearing of his untimely death soon. He's losing his grip on reality, if he ever had one to begin with, and there's no telling what he'll do next. He might do something irreversible.

Not a nice thing to think about, but I really hope I'm wrong. When even Alex Jones thinks you're a nutjob spouting complete nonsense, you've tread into hitherto unexplored levels of lunacy.

Kanye? He's more talented than most of us will ever be.

Obsession with status and an absolutely massive ego help as well. When you go all or nothing, sometimes you get it all.

About the only genre of music that I don't like much is that hip hop rap stuff. So, I've never put any pennies into Ye's pocket.

It will be interesting to see if Ye stating his admiration for Adolf Hitler will impact his musical income. If so it will likely be entertaining to watch his antics as he spirals down.

edit: BTW, I looked up how many votes Ye got for President in 2020. He was on the ballot in 12 states. He only got about 60,000 votes total. That is really bad. Although I don't think he really paid for anything. getting on the ballot in those 12 states was paid for by Trump. Trump was hoping Ye would take black votes from Democrats, I assume.
