So this may be unusual but probably not a surprise go DIers. I had to send official transcripts from my BS, MBA, and MS (in progress) to a college for being able to teach. The BS at ECU and MBA at SOSU cost me money to have sent so I only had them sent to the hiring department that needed them. The MS at Duke though was free to send as many as I wanted so I sent one to the hiring department and I sent one to myself to see what it looks like.

Do any other colleges do transcripts for free? I guess the add the cost into my $70,000 tuition fee for the program. :) Lol

None of the schools I attended offer official transcripts for free.

Ashworth costs $13 (ridiculous) - Parchment
Lamar costs $2.60 (electronic) or $5.10 (mail) - Parchment
Liberty costs $10 (electronic or mail); $1 for each additional recipient at the time of the request

Don Bosco - I haven't requested a transcript from them since I did my ECE evaluation in 2016, which expired in 2021. I haven't re-evaluated my MBA because I don't apply for jobs that require an MBA. However, the evaluation report copies used to be $45; and $30 for each additional copy ordered at the same time.

I think it's crap that we have to pay for transcripts after having paid all of that tuition. For what we have to pay in the United States, it should be included with some reasonable limits. I guess a lot of schools take the heat off of themselves by having Parchment or another service handle it, although the schools do still get a piece of that fee, smh.

    Hello Josh,

Were you able to apply some of the credits from your MBA to this MS? I see a couple of courses that might be the same as the one you already took.

    Thank you!

For a quick second, I was going to disagree when considering that they must process the requests. However, I agree with the reasonable limit idea. Maybe it could be something similar to gettimg one free copy of our credit report from the three major bureaus in a 12-month period. They could probably offer three free official transcripts per year. I think that would be sufficient, considering that most schools or jobs will accept unofficial transcripts until you're admitted or hired. So, unless you're enrolling in multiple schools or job hopping, you shouldn't have to pay anything.

    How does they calculated 3.111?
    P = B, and HP = A?

    Quantic sends transcripts for free.
Eastern requires a charge of $3.00 through Parchment.

The three Canadian schools I attended use their own internal systems for transcript requests and all offer digital or mailed copies.

Durham College charges $14.00 CAD ($10.38 USD)
Trent University charges $16.00 CAD ($11.86 USD)
Athabasca University charges nothing for transcripts.

It's just a little confusing, but once you know how it works, seems easy to understand what the letters mean for the grading system. I guess "life happens" and that's why there was a term where Josh had 3 W's. I don't think it'll cause any detrimental issues in the long run and won't affect that GPA. Keep up the good work, it seems you're already at 27 credits done... a few more to go I guess!

Correct. One of my son's was a rough patch with his Pediatric Epilepsy. If I decide to pursue any further education, I'd just explain the W's were from me taking a Leave of Absence to handle my son's medical needs.

I finish Term 4 in December and then have my lady term from January 2023 to May 2023.

I actually edited that part in after posting as I immediately considered the possibility that some people might abuse it somehow.

The top schools give out cheap grades. These are the grades that I earned after spending two years at the Imperial College London - Business School with many sleepless nights and getting fat. The MBA Core and Elective counts 84%, and the capstone counts as 16%.

We have anti grade inflation. This is the structure Fuqua follows:

    25% or less - SP
    40% or less - HP
    35% or higher - P

Whether the Professors actually hit the threshold for SP and HP, I do not know.

I can assure you, they are not "cheap" grades. It is harder than any other educational journey I have had. I do well in my courses and you can see that I have only got (2) HP grades. It is because earning an HP or SP is super difficult.

Every school I graduated from provided a certain number of free official/sealed transcripts on graduation, now they’re all electronic and charge between $5-$10 each.

I've seen transcript request fees that are as high as $15. If I remember correctly, University of Florida sent free transcripts for a limited period of time or a limited number of requests and so did Angelo State University. I used to get free transcripts from the Alamo Community College system, but that changed. I think Central Texas College still sends transcripts for free.

This is the grading system of UoPeople. I think it is quite standard.

What's the point of A+ and A when both carry a 4.00 grade point?

That is weird, isn't it? At ASU we had A+ but you could elevate your GPA over 4.0 with it (and presumably offset something below an A, although I never got a grade below an A so I'm not sure).
